Hmmm... This is my second bike that I owned from the family of YAMAHA in India and a third one on overall, my alltime favoutire in Bike segment in India and abroad. My present bike is YAMAHA YZF-R6 (600cc, 135bhp, 6-speed). Noone can beat YAMAHA in its performance and power, as you all know already. I like YAMAHA and appreciate it very much right from my childhood from the introduction of RX-100. My first bike that I owned is RX-135 (4-speed) which I liked and enjoyed very much. Then for a change I bought YBX for its styling and performance in a 4-stroke segement. But anyway u can't feel the pick-up and power of a 2-stroke, but this is far better to feel like 2-stroke compared to any other 4-stroke brands. I own this bike from April-2002.

First of all I want to make sure about the readers, Please remember this is not a great mileage bike, so if you are fond of mileage and looking for mileage, then please stop reading, its waste of time to you. If you are performance and power fan then goahead, you will really enjoy this bike.

Performance-

Pros: For performance there is no need of discussion, afterall it's a YAMAHA product who always stand for power and performance. Coming to this bike, this bike is a real performer in 125cc and 4-stroke segment. It can easily rip away any of its segment competitor with a maximum speed of 115kmph with not much engine spurring. It can even take over 2-stroke segment (but its not fair to compare different segment!!). The engine is small enough and finely tuned to out burst 11.5 Bhp power which can easily pull away such a light vehicle with rock solid start from stand alone.

Cons: I would like to have littlebit more power and little bit more exhaust sound for such a performance vehicle. I would also recommend to change the tires to much more wider and thicker, if you want to drag race it. But for common sity driving they are enoguh to handle the road.

Looks-

Pros: This design is really a very good improvement in YAMAHA's designing segment. They came up with great sleek and attractive design comparing to their ancestors (RX- series and YD-125, except RXZ). The head light is a real sexy point in the bike with a high intensity display. The switch controls and all are very friendly and comfortably located at the same place, which many other company brands wont follow. The rear is also very sleek and attractive. On overall this bike doesn't look like an aggressive bulldog with muscle like curves, but this bike is very sexy, sleek and attractive. Coming to instrument panel, it having a dual display with speedometer on one side and tachometer on the other side. I always like to look at its tachometer and reminds me of its power, GOD it has amazing acceleration response and is really quick in delivering the power right from the start.

Cons: It would make it better if they have included a fuel meter too in the tachometer dail. But not so serious drawback.

Comfortness-

Coming to comfortness it did stood among the top in its segment. The kick start is same as its ancesstors with a little bit smoothness (since its a 4-stroke) and gear shifts is also same as standard yamaha shifts, which feels like sporty. Seating is also fine. Handling is alwasy good with YAMAHA bikes and there is no doubt in it as well as the braking. On the overall this is a good bike for any buyer who is serious in performance and power and sleekness in 4-stroke segment and who doesnt really cares for mileage and heavy weight looks.
