Hello Everyone.


Note: This review is strictly for those who appreciate torque pick up and are not mileage hungry. Mileage hungry people can exit at this juncture itself(since this review is not for you).


In 2016, I joined the list of RXZ owners after I purchased a Maroon colored 1999 model 4 speed RXZ. Sharing in this forum my experience, few suggestions and raising few queries.


My RXZ Vehicle review:


SPECIFICATION:


> 4 Speed RXZ Version


>132 CC Bore Size


> Power: 12 BHP @ 7500 RPM


> Torque: 10.25 NM @ 6500 RPM


> Kerb Weight: 115KG


> Fuel capacity: 10.5 liter with 1.5 liter reserve.


MILEAGE:


> Around 27-29 KMPL in City(Tested for over 1000 KM from the date of purchase). Actually company also claims city mileage of 30 KMPL.


> You may find it low, but please make note that the bore(E-2) has been run for 80K KM as of now.


> E-1 and E-2 bore are best in Torque and low in mileage where as E-3 and E-4 are exactly opposite.


> My Previous RX 135 used to give me 45 KMPL with E-3 Bore running at 0.5 Bore size.


> My current RX 135 with E-3 Bore, gives 40 KMPL+ and is in 0.25 Bore size.


COMFORT:


> Seating is the biggest plus point since seat is just 740 mm from ground on 18 inch wheels and 4 inch less with 16 inch yezdi wheels.


> Very short turning radius and maneuvering in traffic is smooth and tension free.


> I must admit that this Bike has given very smooth performance throughout my city rides. Excellent performance on hilly terrains, Bad/poor roads and badly positioned humps.


> In my case, I maintain driving sanity: Keep check on the 3000 -3500 rpm on the rpm meter and speed check 30-45 Kmph in 3rd-4th gear(in city conditions).


> On Highway I cant provide crystal clear figures since I have driven less there.


> When planning for a local ride, No back pains for 50-60 KM ride at a stretch. After that you may have depends on back shocks strength.


RELIABILITY:


> This vehicle Bore and other spares are all in standard condition and as of now as said earlier the bike has has run around 80K kms.


> Now first time will open the bore for piston change and rings change since rings have worn off.


> Unless you dont screw around your vehicle and drive sensibly, you will rarely need to visit a garage or workshop for repairs.


> 2 Stroke bikes are self sufficient bikes and under standard riding conditions rarely require maintenance.


ROAD GRIP: Excellent. Even in hard core scenarios, the braking is adequate(even with drum brakes) due to low kerb weight of the bike. It also can be noted that the vehicle design helps in maintaining the sanity of position during riding and while bending the bikes on turns/curves which very few bikes can boast of.


APPEAL: RXZ is one among the few bikes(like SUPRA, SUPRA POWER UP, SHOGUN and SHAOLIN) that set benchmark for a whole new future generation of Aesthetically appealing racer type Bikes.


SPARES: Yamaha have stopped manufacturing spares and we need to purchase in after market some of which are OEM but not of Yamaha quality.


2T OIL Addition: Ensure you put 30 ml 2T oil with 1 Liter petrol. In case we add more oil it is ok with the engine since it aids the engine but by any chance you put less oil then it is to be understood that one has to be extremely careful and avoid long drive, since engine heat may jam the Bore-Piston resulting in engine seize and an expense of Rs 12000 and loss of a Bore Size.


BORE SIZE: 2 Stroke bikes can be bored past the standard size unlike 4 stroke bikes due to addition of 2T oil and the structural simplicity of 2 Stroke bike bore and piston design. Post standard one can bore to the levels of 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.00, 1.50 and 2.00 MM.


RESALE Price: During recent years the demand and appreciation for the Yamaha 2 stroke bikes have picked up significantly. The quotes have already breached 1 Lakh for RXZ vehicles(when in supreme condition and with proper legal papers).


SUMMARY: Anyone who will appreciate a simple non complicated bike with performance and thrill needs to just go for RX 2 stroke vehicles. There are hardly any CONS except the availability of spares, low mileage and lots of pollution.


FUTURE:


> With BS Stage 6 looming around and is to be implemented on April-01-2020, the chances are very high that the Supreme court may implement stringent guidelines on exhaust gases volume in the pollution certificate.


> So with these guidelines the emission threshold if comes down drastically, then all the vehicles from BS-3 and before may find it difficult to meet the guidelines.


> There are rumours that in such condition, all the 15(+) year old vehicles, 2 Stroke vehicles and the vehicles even purchased and run in between if found polluting might be reviewed by the RTO and the chances are very high that these bikes/other automobiles may have to go off the road.


> Then the only option left is, either to be keep these bikes as show piece or give it to RTO who will scrap them which is very disheartening. But rules are rules and will apply to everyone except the powerful people who can beat the law and run such vehicles.


> I would appreciate someone from either RTO/Court related employee who knows proper details and can check these details and validate if the facts are actually true and not just rumours. This will help many in clearing off their stocks.
