Why RX models(barring RXG) was always way ahead of its competitors Between 1985 to 2005(the RX production era) like

> BAJAJ: KB 100, ENDURO and KB 125,

> SUZUKI: AX 100, MAX 100, SAMURAI, SUPRA, SUPRA SS, SHOGUN, SHAOLIN,

> YEZDI: 175

> RAJDOOT: 175, ACE, EXCEL-T

> ENFIELD: SHERPA-175, MINI BULLET, Thunderbird, FURY.

> HERO HONDA: CD100, SLEEK, SS-100, SPLENDOR, and HERO PUCH.

> LML: FREEDOM, ADRENO, GRAPHTOR

All the vehicles mentioned above were very good, had their share of technology and success but RX had that extra that made it NUMERO UNO for 20 years in production and till now these vehicles in pristine condition have their values more than 50K.

RXZ have already gone above 1 Lakh for 5 speed versions. If you compare all the competitors mentioned above, they have depreciating value and only RX has appreciating value.

Some may feel this is incorrect, few may crib but truth is always truth. I once upon a time was RX Critic, Hard core critic. But my eyes have been opened and hope you also agree.

PROS: The main reason for RX Success are as follows(some may agree and others may disagree, I am here presenting my view point only)

> Ease of handling.

> Simple design and pleasing to look with no complications in tank design.

> Signature Tone

> Initial LOW Revving engine

> Light weight with good center of gravity

> High BHP/ton ratio

> High pick-up due to high Torque and this is why RX is quickest to reach speed from 0 to 60 KMPH, among 135cc and below bikes(except pitted against Shogun or Shaolin, where 5 speed RX 135 will compete and 4 speed RX 100 or RX 135 will not).

> Trouble free vehicle engine for mechanic during repairs.

> Excellent Spare part material quality

> Spare part availability, Good Yamaha service centers till now(from 2015 production of spares at YAMAHA stopped).

> Can be re-bored from standard to 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00 and 2.00 MM, i.e: 5 times post Standard Bore.

CONS: Generally well treated RX vehicles gave around 35-40 mileage(4 speed RX 135 have recorded mileage upto 50kmpl), but when ripped their mileage dropped and this was main reason many people went for 4 stroke JOKES for mileage sacrificing power. The 4 speed RX 135 was specifically made for decent mileage and I have recorded 45 mileage also numerous times when I politely drive and do not rush in accelerating or braking.

KITNA DETI HAIN attitude in INDIA: This is primary reason along with environmental pollution norms that 4 Strokes literally banned 2 strokes. Any vehicle in India is looked from mileage perspective only and that is why today we have more 100 to 125 CC vehicles competing on max mileage, than 150-200 CC vehicles competing for BHP/Ton ratio.

My Personal Verdict:

> I am  driving RX 135 for just 3.5 years now. I fancied second hand RX and got one 97 model in 2013. It was really wonderful and good comfort vehicle to drive. Maintained it to the best possible extent, that it gave 46+ mileage in highways and 42+ in city plus the vehicle was being trouble free. Just perfect and superb.Somehow I was not convinced as it was not on Cat-con. So Sold off the RX 135 for cheap(just 27.5 K) and got an opportunity to buy almost mint conditioned RX 135 of December 2005 at 50K.

> The Vehicle for smooth riders like me who drive in the range of 30-60 kmph, in city and highways this is a GEM. Pretty decent to drive and I love to drive on highways at 40, just cruising and enjoying.

> Only problem is the original seat is hard, like Crux and the rider can get back pain. But the foam can be replaced adding cushion and also one can alter the back shock spring setting to match.

> Even though I am double in weight, the vehicle pulls me through and it is nothing new to it to pull extra pounds.

> The wheels have solid grip, especially the MRF, CEAT or Dunlop 18' front tyres. Back tyre at 18' is little uncomfortable. Can change to 17" tyre or even Yezdi 16"(tyre availability is a issue unless you compromise for local manufacturers like ARL, Birla or Maruti tyres).

> Now it is understood that Yamaha no more manufactures or procures original OEM spares. So the spares of this vehicle at OEM standard not available and one has to either pull such parts from old vehicles or purchase at higher rate from hoarders.

> In any case, it would not be recommended to put duplicate parts as the performance will miss that extra thing what RX offers. See what is happening to Shogun and Shaolin bikes. No OEM spares from Suzuki and these vehicles are just ordinary bikes unlike RX bikes.

A Yamaha RX rider is miles ahead of others.

With Lots of Love.Bye.
