With the introduction of Yamaha YZF-R15 in 2008, Indian motorcycle market got a new performance definition and benchmark, which every company wished to have. YZF-R15 belongs to the Yamaha R1 bloodline and is totally focused towards high quality performance.

The first generation of YZF-R15 was called as the R15 v1.0 and from its front, it is very difficult to judge whether it’s a v1.0 or a v2.0. The first generation was a hero of its time. No Indian motorcycle had that iconic fully faired race design at that time and this made it a very popular offering in a small period of time. The side profile of the v1.0 was the best at that time and the performance was unmatched. It was powered by a 149.8 cc engine, producing 16.8 BHP @ 8500 rpm and 15 NM @ 7500 rpm. The engine has always remained a fuel injected liquid cooled one, with 6-speed manual transmission attached to it.

The second generation of YZF-R15, known as R15 v2.0 is an up to date version of the same mean machine we had back in 2008 and had mostly the visual changes to meet the current day demands. The performance was said to be increased in the form of shorter 0-60 and 0-100 kmph timings. The major changes included larger tires for front and rear, light aluminum swing arm, redesigned side and tail part with LED lights at the back. The newer version also has split seats, a new exhaust pipe and newly designed alloy wheels.

Technical changes were increased wheelbase(1345 mm from 1290 mm), increased seat height(800 mm from 790 mm), decrease in length and a new larger rear disc brake(220 mm). The weight increased by 5 kg in total.

The unmatched performance also brought a very comfortable riding position with itself. The R15 is designed in such a manner than the effect of wind gets minimized through its fairing and the seating position makes a very tight grip to the seats and the handlebar. Its low height makes it very comfortable and the disc brakes are handling their responsibility equally

he R15S is priced at INR 114, 741 whereas the newer V2.0 is priced at INR 1, 18, 373
