Pros:
100MB mailbox
Cons:
There aren't any

When you open the yahoo mail page in your browser, the heading says ’The best free email service in the world’. Yahoo isn’t kidding. It surely is the best. I have used Yahoo, Hotmail, Indiatimes
and Rediff in the last 4-5 years. And a brief comparison among them makes Yahoo stand out as the clear winner.

Rediff is poor when it comes to spam management and Indiatimes is itself spammed by their own offers. The only close competitor Yahoo has is Hotmail. Yes hotmail is good, but Yahoo is better. Lets see how.

My personal experience with Hotmail has not been satisfactory. I held 3 different accounts on hotmail, and all 3 of them were spammed. My small 2MB mailbox used to be filled up within a month with spam, which did not get filtered into the junk mail folder. But on the contrary, I have held only 1 account on Yahoo for the last 4 years and I have never had any spam on it. Many people say that their yahoo mail accounts are heavily spammed, but I beg to differ, since I have never had any spam in it.

The layout is good. it looks well organized and user-friendly. The downloading speed is fairly fast as compared to hotmail. Yahoo has recently upgraded to a 100MB mailbox. I know that this is due to competition from gmail, lycos and other free email services. Its good, since this competition is ultimately going to benefit the end-user only. Yahoo now has certain features that could not be found on any web-based email services. For example - marking a mail as read/unread.

Infact, Yahoo was the first to start this trend of incorporating the features of email clients like Outlook Express, etc and the others followed suit. A 30MB space for briefcase and another 30MB space for photos can be very useful for many among us who may want to share files with others.

Overall, I am more than satisfied with my experience with Yahoo. Its simple, good, packed with features and its FREE!!!
