I am using Internet since 1997, at first I was having the e-mail account of VSNL which always comes with the Internet account that you buy from the ISP. At that time I was new bie on the Internet.. I was
not knowing any thing on internet.. First site I visited on internet was khoj.com and the second site I visited on internet was yahoo.com. But at that time I was not knowing that there is any certain site is available which is providing the free e-mail service.
After one year in 1998, In cyber cafe I was surfing on internet and than I visited to yahoo.com, I saw ’Check Mail’ Icon on that site.. I clicked on that link and get in to it... I fill the form for my e-mail address and created an e-mail account for me for the first time on internet.
Registration: Registration process of
Yahoo! Mail is very easy and very fast.. You have to give the answer of only minimum questions and then click on Sign Up button.. The thing I like most in the registration process is that if your selected username is taken by someone else than
Yahoo! Mail generates the user id for you.. And you can select from them or you can create your won also... after getting your correct
Yahoo! Mail id, you will see one page which have certain numbers of newsletter from which you can select some of the letters, this option is optional.
Speed: The speed of
Yahoo! Mail is in average while signing in.. but after signing in it works so much fast.. that is unbelivable.. It send e-mail quickly and also recive e-mails quickly than the other e-mail services... here is an example.. My friend has account in Rediff.com and I have account in Yahoo! Mail. I was in need of one file which was stored in my friend’s computer, I tell her to send me that file. She send me file.. and than suddenly I checked my mail.. but I didn’t rec. mail from her. I call her to get to know that she sended me mail or not? and she told me that she has already sended the mail. After 15 mins.. when I checked my mail, I rec. an e-mail from her. Than I decided to check the service of
Yahoo! Mail and I forward the same e-mail to the my Hotmail account and also to the my friend’s account on rediff.com and they rec. that mail in just 30 secs. Than I thought that the service of the reciving mail in Yahoo! will not be proper.. But I test it and it also works great... overall the speed of
Yahoo! Mail is normal.
Space: When I registred first time for the
Yahoo! Mail I get the 2MB space. But after three months I get more 1 MB space that means total of 3 MB space. After one year they again increased the mail box size to 4MB space. And now they are providing 6 MB space since one year.
Bulk Mail: Suppose that you have rec. an e-mail which has larger size in all of the other e-mail that you have, that
Yahoo! Mail automatically keep your that mail in to the Bulk Mail folder.. I liked that service but now I am not using.. coz every time need to change folder to read diff. mails.
Cutomization: Customization of the
Yahoo! Mail service is really very great. User can change the color of the naviagation bars. And also user can change the e-mail order that they want.. they can change it in ascending order as well as in descending order. User can set the screen width and screen height of
Yahoo! Mail , User can select the
Yahoo! Mail version from the two types frame version and non-frame version, by default it is set to frame version.
Filtering: I like this option of the
Yahoo! Mail very much.. I am not using it.. but I have trued it.. In this feature we have to just give the certain word or someones e-mail address and than
Yahoo! Mail will search the word in to the e-mail and then it will filter that mail and it will store that mail in to the folder chosen by then user.
POP Mail: User can also check it’s mail from by using the third party tools like Microsoft Outlook Express or simillar to that, And one feature which is great in this is that, that the you can also check your other POP 3 e-mail through
Yahoo! Mail isn’t it great?
Address Book: Address book provided in
Yahoo! Mail is also a great. User can store it’s pals or relatives name, address, e-mail, contact nos and also Yahoo! Messenger ID.
More Features: There are lots of feature in the
Yahoo! Mail like Vacation Response, Signatures, Rich Text E-Mail Messaging and lots..
The one feature I like most in this is that, that when any user is having
Yahoo! Mail or we have added any persons Yahoo! ID in the address book, it shows that the user is online or offline with the help of small icons...
Attachments: I am slightly upset with this service.. because of security Yahoo! is only supporting three attachment at a time and also maximum capacity of each file 2MB. It consumes my lots time. but thing I like in this is that it has virus scanning facility.. It works great and it is really vert very fast.. it scans the 2 MB of file for virus in just 15 seconds.
I am using the service of
Yahoo! Mail since 1998 and I will still use it... Yahoo is my primary e-mail service.
