Never Buy Woodland. Review on Woodland

I bought a pair of black sandals with 3-inch heels from Woodland (Spice Mall, Noida) a few months ago. The pair was very good looking and quite comfortable. This was the first time I was buying anything from Woodland and going by its reputation, I was hoping for long-lasting durability.

Much to my disappointment, the cover under the heel came out within two weeks of my using it. I took it back to the showroom and they accepted it for repairs. I got the sandals back after 3 weeks with the assurance that I won’t face any problem with it again. But within a fortnight, the same problem occurred. I again took it back and again got a repair-slip. It was another 3 weeks before I got the sandals back.

Within a week of getting them back one of the heels broke in half. I again made a trip to the mall. This time I demanded either a refund or replacement but was told in clear terms that I can get neither. I was again given a repair-slip and got the sandals back after a few weeks.

Alas, two days after I got back the sandals, one of the soles came off! I made a trip to the showroom yet again and made my displeasure clear to the incharge Mr. Amit Sharma. But as usual his reply was that they can neither refund nor replace the piece. This time he was also sarcastic enough to inform me that he has sold many pairs of these sandals but I am the only one who has faced such problems. Also that the warranty on these sandals was only three months implying that he was doing me a favour by taking them for repairs. I have got a repair slip for the 4th time and am waiting to get back the repaired pair yet again.

The pair cost me Rs. 1,600/-. And I have spent a considerable amount on petrol and parking going to-and-fro to the mall 4 times. Not to forget the time I have wasted. And there is no guarantee that once I get the pair back, it won’t break for the 5th time. This is the last time I have got this pair of sandals repaired. If it breaks again (and I won’t be surprised if it does) I will just throw it away.

Woodland is considered a reputable brand but its quality is worse than the sandals I have bought from Janpath for Rs. 200/-. The after-sales/customer service is a joke. After this horrendous experience I am not going to buy anything from Woodland ever.

I e.mailed the link of this review to Woodland Customer Care. Within 24 hours I got a call from the showroom to come and select a new sandal of the same value. This weekend I visited the showrooma and got a replacement. Thanks to Woodland Customer Care for the prompt action.
