I'm not into horror movies unless its a really good one, and I was not impressed with its trailer, but my friends dragged me so I had no choice.
Well the script writer did a very poor job with the plot execution, concept was nice but the way it was showcased, everything fell apart. Clare got the magical musicbox from her dad which has the power to grant 7 wishes, and she goes and uses the wishes to her own needs. Everythings fine at first until she realised it has a catch, every wish she makes has its consiquences and she has to pay the price in the end. The story was ok and it would have worked well if it was handled in a more professional manner but alas the poorly written plot made it a boring one.
Now the performance of the characters were disheartning, lifeless, which made the movie even more dull. The role of Clare played by actress Joey King seems to be trying too hard to maintain her role, its as if I can see that shes an actor whos trying too act, very poorly at that. All the other characters are shallow, they are just there, even Ryan who played Clare's dad seemed out of place. All in all its just a bunch of people following the script like a machine.
Music was a thud. Honestly horror movies should have bone chilling themes, not the kind of happy go lucky music theme this movie has. And then some over used scary back grounds which we are very familiar with, and from which we would never get scared are in this movie.
Cinematography was an ok level. Not that ground breaking CGI we would get from big budget ones but this one's was tollerable.
To put it simply instead of getting the chilly feeling from this'horror' movie I was kind of mildly amused to see how they messed up the whole movie. This movie is not worth watching.
