Carrying over from the general advice on buying Refrigerators, I think this is the fridge, which can be classified as a refrigerator with everything. Though you pay a bit more that’s ok in view of
the wide range of features you get with it. According to the capacity requirement you can get a appropriate model. However for a typical family with 4-5 members this model should do a good. We don’t buy Refrigerators too often, don’t we and there aren’t many enhancements in this product as compared to motorcycles or televisions for instance. So buying any home appliances or electrical items is not rare but a occasional event in our lives. After reading about the features of the product you could hardly demand for any major additions or requirement. Price is what you will have to pay for the quality and quantity of features.

Features

Auto Defrosting
Auto defrosting is very important feature to look out for in a fridge. Some fridges have cyclic defrosting; meaning when the compressor shuts of after the cooling cycle the frost accumulated is cleared of. However in high humidity condition manual defrosting is inevitable. So we are still left with tedious process of shutting down the machine and wait for the ice to melt and then wipe it off by dry cloth. As I mentioned earlier well-defrosted refrigerator is an efficient refrigerator. Excess frost acts as an insulator (cooling wise) and restricts the cooling effect there by increasing power consumption.
Whatever the science says defrosting is always a headache since it blocks most of the space in freezer and just doesn’t look good. So Auto defrosting becomes a necessity. The demand is fulfilled in this one. You don’t have to worry about humidity and weathering stuff.

Clean Back Design
A common feature these days is Clean black free of coil and wire mess. The refrigerator has been designed using a technology. In which the coil is placed in the sides of the wall and are covered in the enclosure of the outer body of the frame. The sides of refrigerator become warm (frankly, hot) when it is on. However this is a normal occurring. When humidity is high the condensation takes place and there could be some water gathered on the faces of sidewalls or top of the fridge. So it becomes important to keep your fridge clean from outside as well as inside since walls could get fungus or stains. That’s the only problem with these kinds of fridge. However that’s inherent and unavoidable. So clean back design doesn’t just mean back of the refrigerator is clean of any coils or wires but you also need to keep it clean.

Deep Freezer
Similar to the Godrej Ultra 230 L and 386L this being double door the upper small compartment is for Deep Freezer. That brings us an advantage of mini cold storage. A wire tray helps to organize all food items in a better way and utilize maximum space of the section. Ice Cream, Ice-Cubes, Meat, Poultry, Fish and even masalas can be stored in the freezer. One major difference with this is instant chilling. This is very useful in hot summers when demand for ice is more that may be food. Also for parties this is a very useful feature, which makes the ice with in minutes. If I’m not wrong normal freezers take about 4 hours to make ice. Minutes are nothing in comparison to hours.

Preservation Of Food
Problem of odors overpowering is common in refrigerators. It’s not that food begins smelling strongly but it is concentrated or intensified in the small space with no way for ventilation (a fridge with ventilators!!!). The overpowering of odors makes one food item smell like others and it affects the freshness of the foodstuff. The odors are concentrated in a small area and intensified with no option for ventilation. The solution to the problem is either you put all strong smelling items (esp. cooked items) in closed containers or choose a fridge which takes care of the problem by its own. Not all refrigerators have this facility. I suppose Whirlpool comes with this feature. Our Godrej ultra does not have this feature.

Flexible Interior
Half-shelf gives the flexibility of storing big, tall bottles. It can also be removed for convenience. Crisper has a separator, which can be used to store soft items such as tomatoes. Twin egg rack can store up to 16 eggs and can also be detached to store small half liter bottles (like that of Pepsi and Coca Cola).

This is the best refrigerator I could suggest you. I would like to bring a problem with fridges to your notice. The guarantee period for them is on an average 5 years. Quite a long period but in an area where electric power failures are more frequent than wrong weather predictions the system chocking might occur sooner or later because of things getting stuck in the drainage of the refrigerator. We faced this problem with our Godrej Ultra just before the end of the period. Had that happed after 3 months we would have certainly needed to pay in excess of 4000 Rs. for repairs. To avoid that you can make a service contract with the company, which is similar to insurance in a sense. You pay a mere amount per year and get all repair works free of cost for the decided period of time. For Godrej it was 600 Rs. per annum.
