Excellent Product & Pathetic Customer Support. Review on Whirlpool White Magic T 50

This review comes to you after using the product for more than 1 year.

I was looking for a washing machine and was in fix, which one to go for ? A front loading or a top loading and of course which make ?

During this process I happened to visit a dealer and he showed me the Whirlpool Whitemagic T-50. It took almost no time for me to make a choice and I purchased it for Rs.15200/-

I was quite excited with my purchase and went home and started desperately waiting for the technician from whirlpool for a demo and installation. Soon I was disappointed to know that the demo will be possible only after 4 days. That was not acceptable to me, after all who had the patience for 4 days? I called up Whirlpool?s local office but to no help.

I waited for 4 days. The guy came and told me that either I will have to provide a separate dedicated tap connection point for the machine or I will have to buy a Pipe Tap Adapter Assembly which costed an additional amount of Rs.350/- . It was not just a matter of additional cost, it was a matter of time and the guy went off to get that PTA assembly. He returned after two days and the machine was finally installed in a week's time.

Once the machine started running properly, I must say the machine is a real masterpiece. The washing quality is really good and I have compared it to many other machines, it?s the best.

After 10 months of a trouble free service, the automatic valve on the water inlet line got burnt, I am sure that was not a quality problem, but it happened due to some other reasons which whirlpool might know better. Since the machine was in warranty I logged a complaint with whirlpool service center and then started an unending tale of follow-ups and follow-ups to follow-ups.

I was told that the valve is an imported one and it will take 2 weeks for getting it here. The time passed like this for one month. After one month somebody else from Whirlpool Customer Care told me that the valve has to come from Pondicherry and will come in another 2 weeks. I still waited for 2 more weeks and after that I went on as blasting spree and blasted whoever came to talk to me at Whirlpool Customer Care. The result was I was sent a stand-by machine at my home as an ad-hoc arrangement. Two weeks later i.e. 2 months from the date of logging complaint the valve of the machine was replaced and the machine became alright.

Six months have passed after that and the machine is giving atrouble free service.

I will not say that the machine is not good or since the valve developed a fault it?s of not good quality. See any equipment can break at any point of time, that?s not much important; it is more important that how soon it can be repaired and to be frank Whirlpool failed on this front. I do not have any other Whirlpool product with me so I can not judge weather the service quality of Whirlpool is of this standard or my case was an exception. I leave this decision to the readers. To close with, I will list some of the key plus and minus of the machine:

1.Pathetic Service Backup

2.Very Heavy (75 Kilos, Not for people who keep on moving frequently)

3.High Detergent Cost (Approximately Rs.100 to Rs. 200 Per Month)

4.Needs a Fixed Installation, cannot be moved easily.

5.Manual is not good and you need a lot of common sense to understand it.

6.Due to inappropriate manual, it takes some time to learn to how to program the machine
