Walden is an American book written by noted transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau.
The work is part personal declaration of independance, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and manual for self - reliance.
Many people know Thoreau from his 1849 essay "Resistance to Civil Government, " better known as "Civil Disobedience."
Walden is written in much the same spirit.He firmly believed that most of the life's expenses were unnecessary, and therefore so too was the labor a man put into earning enough money to buy them.
