One day Dad was late from office and mom was getting worried what could have happened and I am talking about the days when there were no Cell Phones in India there were quiet a few refrigirators. Dad arrived about an hour late only to be face moms queries. With that ever pleasent Fatherly smile Dad told us... I’ve purchased a Fridge but wasn’t able to decide on the color and told me that its a Voltas 165Lts. He asked me and my mom to go the next and pick any color we like. Dad knew very well how to surprise my mom. Mom wasn’t able to say anything and her smile told how happy she was.
So the next afternoon(while dad was busy working in the office) me and my mom set of to the dealer. Wow it was a REAL BIG showroom with hundereds of things, TV’s, Audios, Washing Machines, Vaccum Cleaners and all those stuff. A very humble person greeted us and took the details and took us around showing different things and so many brands of Fridges. I saw that Mom wasn’t quickly able to decide from the various brands and I told Mom that its a VOLTAS, Dad likes the VOLTAS to lets stick to the Voltas and just pick the color. The guy showed us the different colors in Voltas and all of a sudden my eyes got glued to a Pista Green VOLTAS. I told Mom - This is what I like, what do U say? She was happy with my choice and we both decided that we will go for the green thing.
The guy said that we will have it at our doorsteps in about 2hrs. We rushed home and thought of all the places where we can keep it and made place for it and as promised it was at our door in less than two hours(Hyderabad’s traffic wasn’t as bad a decade ago - I had just completed my school). I never knew anything about these things and we went through all the manuals and learnt almost everything about it and I told Mom that I am the one whoz gonna maintain it and now even after a decade (and while I am working) I still take out time to clean it and I simply love it. And believe me in these 10 years we NEVER had even a single problem with it and once we were out of station for 6 months and as soon as we returned I cleaned it and switched it on. No Hiccups nothing. It came to life without any trouble and now I feel even if U ask me the make of my fridge I will say A PISTA GREEN VOLTAS :) Yaser.
