I bought a Voltas Mini Magic Super water dispenser more than a year ago. It has worked fine so far. However, a few days ago, the nozzle where the water refill is inserted broke and I logged a compalint with the service centre. I was told that my complaint # is 12JN1601656. A few days later somebody from the local service centre, M/s Lahar Enterprises called me up and said that their technician would visit me. The technician came over and told us that the nozzle and one of the taps needed to be replaced. He wanted the old parts for sample, so we allowed them to be taken. Then he asked for service charges of Rs. 250/= to be paid in advance. We told him it should be payable when he rectified the machine, to which he reluctantly agreed. Not sure why companies like Voltas should insist on advance charges, without repairing a product!


It has been 20 days now, the technician visited us on 17th Jan 2012. The service centre has been unable to resolve our problem. I have called the technician, the service centre and the owner, Mr Manish several times, but to no avail. They tell me they are getting the needful done but nothing happens. I even called up the 1800 number to inform them of my inconvenience, but no action has been initiated by Voltas so far.


We all have faith in Voltas because it is a Tata company. However, the service needs much to be desired. Why should we pay a premium for the Tata or Voltas name, when the service is so poor. When I last called today, the owner of the service centre, Mr Manish suggested that I talk to somebody in Voltas who indents spare parts. Is it my duty to do so?


We should much rather pay half the price to buy Chinese products if this is the service we are getting. The company is just fleecing us in the name of quality and service, while providing none!
