I love this car! and bought this car for safety features it offers. But recently I had met with an accident recently in Volkswagen polo TDI top end with ABS and airbags. Bought in July 2013. The front got completely damaged, though not major things got smashed. The car sealed the doors and I couldn't get out?
The front side panels collapsed and sealed over the front doors making it impossible to get out of the car. VW has no thought on this safety I guess! I don't know how the car has been designed, but rather then sealing the doors the impact beam should not create this issue. At the workshop I saw all the cars of Volkswagen facing this issue. I guess this is a major design flaw in this car realizing after the accident .

the policy they offer is very tricky, they dont give on metal and plastic, please don't take this policy they offer .

Please check this before they offer 2 years extended policy. There are other policy in which you wont have to pay for plastic and metal parts replacement. Problem at VW BODY WORKSHOP! money off the grid! They will not tell you or give you any information about what is consumable, metal and plastic parts, until you ask them forcefully.
Even in the final invoice you are at the mercy of the supervisor to know the exact amount which is calculated from their invoice system as 100% from the consumer. it will seem like they are doing you a favor by telling you lesser amount. rather they inflated the amount as per parts to be replaced and told me a bill of 97000 Rs out of which I have to pay 55000 Rs as per insurance policy. The supervisor convinced me that the total amount will be reduced from 55000 to 43000, if I take care of him with some extra buck off the grid. what bullsh*t was that seriously!
Luckily! I had all the details of the parts and calculated on my own and resulted the amount was 38000 Rs and I didn't have to take his mercy and finished my bill paying off that amount. there are lot of things in this amount which could also be reduced, but I guess that's what I couldn't argue as a consumer, since their official invoice was large enough to kill me. Corruption is there but can happen off the grid and is absolutely possible at VW.
If you take care of the above VW will offer very humble service.
