I have been a happy customer of Vodafone for almost 3 years now! And wherever i've been going, my connection has been following me accurately!

I've been using it ...

..from the time when there were actually free messages(Local, National, and International) on GSM connections to when there were Chota, Bada and Medium recharges!

..from the time when the only place where you can get a recharge card was the retailers to the time when the Ramu Pan Bhandar owner would hand you a recharge cardon installments! :)

Hutch was good, Advertisements were decent, Recharges were available easily, and importantly the service and connection in cities was very decent. Lots of people used to complain that tunnel me sunai nahi dega, and all that. Arre where the hell have you gotten into a tunnel at? Vodafone, by ways of advertisements and promos and improvements in talk plans and expansion, its better, I must say!

Some Analysis now ...

Pros -

Talk Plan's

There was a time when there a very limited talk plans were available! But now, they are in the ratio of approximately 1:1 (a plan for every type of customer). I have used both prepaid and postpaid and they would pretty much serve your purpose!

Call ratesand other important features needed are fine. I've got a postpaid connection with 600 mins of free local mobile calls.. and a decent Rs1.3 per min for landlines & others!

GPRS ratesare a decent 10 paisa per 10 kb, and the connection is stable for most of the city limits!

Innovative advertisements(You and i, the dog that follows you, and the recent ZooZoo's) and Promos(Reduced call rates that came down from Rs 2/min to Rs 1.4/min) make it all the more lucrative!

Pretty decent support on number changes, plan changes, address changes etc!

Cons -

Happy to Help you, but the number you have dialled is currently busy....

Sloppy customer care at times can be pretty messed up! Specially when you have to give feedback to each and every call you make to the customer care!

Vodafoneson's theory of Customer Irritation....

I have an extra connection for my cousin on my name and unbelievably, they blocked my primary connection coz my cousin forgot to pay his connection bill! Now which Einstein theory proves that?

Le lijiye Na Sirrrrrrrrr....

Man they can be irritating, specially when you hear 'Hi..You can now download blah blah blah from the blah blah blah center!' when you anxiously await some very important call!

Caller tunes....

I never understood, why would someone want to make the caller hear a ringtone that you can test only when you borrow someone else's phone and hear it! Rs 10 for downloading a caller tune, Rs 3/sms for the download, and Rs30 per month! In total - Rs43.. And that too, preceeded by the Le lijiye na sirrr.. Never ever say yes, even if you are having a bad day! I did and now I have a 'You and I' (Which though is far better than the raindrops that never stopped falling on my head) playing on my phone for every aira gaira natthu khaira that happens to call me! I am awaiting the end of this month, as even if I deactivate it now, Rs 43 are gone!

Website..

Well, The slowest website probably i've ever seen. I think it only is up 65 days a year! I was so messed up trying to download my bill. But, thankfully vodafone has its roots in almost all banks so you can make an online payment through almost any bank! And now even on mobiles (through credit cards) you can pay ur bills.

Overall

I can say, its a 50-50 from me! I am lazy, so havent changed it as it satisfies most of my needs presently, and guess these cons I mentioned are there in almost all network providers! So, I am happy, select it if you think you have some of the symptoms I mentioned that you seem to relate to in here! Although, the cons seem to be more, coz they redundant in most of em.

So, I am on its side for its a decent enough provider, if you are paying attention to the usual "Le Lijiye Na Sirr..."traps of the network providers, and carefully choosing the plans!!

I had written a bakwaas advice on choosing a mobile connection too :-)
