Vaastav(meaning Truth) is a very moving movie of stark reality. This movie is about a teen living in a chwal Raghu who is running a small pav bhaji stall and by accident is forced into being a part of the
underworld.Once he is comfortable mentally as being an undeworld don,he takes his company to greater and greater heights till the very nature of his profession comes to haunt him.
Im glad people are making films like this and Companty as it has a very important message to preach in the sense that being a part of the underworld might look nice, bold and glamorous but its a one way street which ,as we all know, end up as a dead dead and horried end for not just the person conered but also his family. The last 10 minutes of the movie where in Raghus mom says after killing him that she didnot kill him,he had already killed himself when he joined this profession is worth going miles to watch.
Sanjat Dutt,of all the gangster roles he had done in now more than a dozen filsm this is by far the most impressive. One could not have found a better actor for this role. The scenes and the way the story moves after every reel is a treate to watch.Namrata Shirodkar ,as Sanjay Dutts wife, does her part well although its a smal role.Naye duniya hai shot in Europe is a good song.
Paresh Rawal has a small but significant role in this film. This movie was followed 2 yrs later with a prequel Hathyar which was anso an extension of this movie but wasnt half as good.
