This movie is where my name for this site comes from Raghubhai.

Vaastav came out in the november of 1999, just when everyone thought that Aamir khan for safarosh or salman khan for hum dil de chuke sanam will take the award for the best actor of the year, sanjay dutt gets in the middle takes it from everyone else for vaastav. The movie is directed by mahesh manjrekar who is a very good director.

The movie stars, Sanjay dutt,namrata shirodkar,paresh rawal,deepak tajori,sanjaynavrekar,reema lagoo, mohnish behal and shivaji satam.

Raghu (sanjay dutt) who lives in chawl with his parents ( reema lagoo and shivaji satam) and a younger brother vijay ( mohnish behl). Raghu doesn’t study or do nothing he jsut hangs with his friends plays marbles. Raghu’s father is tired of it and he wants him to settle down once and for all. Raghu get’s an idea and and makes his father give money to open fast food stall, it’s like a little restaurant but you gotta stand and eat they don’t have no chairs to sit down. Raghu works hard and starts making good money out of it. He even pays his father half of the money back in a couple of weeks.

One day two two gangsters come and ask for something to eat. Raghu’s friend dedfutia ( sanjay navrekar) is beaten by the gangsters. Raghu trying to save his friends accidentally kills the gangster. Raghu and dedfutia are now on the run from the police and the brothers of the gangster they killed. Raghu from the help his friend (deepak tajori) raghu finds refuge under vithal kanya ( ashish vidyarthi) a rival gangster from the one raghu is running from. Kanya turns raghu into a gangster and dreaded name in the underworld. He is now called RAGHUBHAI. Raghu starts to do drugs, drink alcohol and even visits a prostitute by name of sonu(namrata shirodkar) and later he marries her.

The movie is worth watching, one of the best movies in bollywood. You cannot miss this movie. The emotional scenes in the movie are off the hook. This movie shows how restless a gangster is.

Performance wise= The whole movie belongs to sanjay dutt no doubt. This is the best role he has done since his debut rocky. Sanjubaba takes full advantage of this role. His scenes in the movie with his father and mother are worth a watch. The first time he becomes a gangster and comes home is a good scene, when his parents see what he has become. Namrata shirodkar is pretty good as raghu’s wife. Paresh rawal does a nice job as the suleman bhai who is friend of sanju in the movie. sanjay navrekar is worth a watch as sanjay dutt’s sidekick. I am surprised he didn;t get a supporting actor award.

The songs aren’t that good in the movie, only Meri duniya hai tujhme kahin by sonu nigam is good and choota kad is pretty good also.
