I had been to Udupi by bus in the month of November 2015. I went to Udupi on a cold-cum-foggy winter morning in November, 2015 by a KSRTC Sleeper bus. The comfort level in the bus was excellent. The bus started at 9 Pm and reached Udupi by around 6:30 Am. The route taken was via Hassan, Sakleshpur, Belthangady and Mangalore. The distance between Mangalore and Udupi is around 60 kilometers and quite motor-able.One has to go through the hilly terrain surrounding Shiradi Ghats near Sakleshpur. Other alternative routes to reach Udupi is via Madikeri and Sampaje or via Shimoga, Thirthahalli, Agumbe, Hebri and Perdoor.
Udupi Residency is located in the middle of the town. The ambiance is great and the atmosphere tempting to stay on forever. The room rent is quite reasonable and the toilets are great. One should better reserve in advance to avoid last-minute rush. The rooms are quite comfortable and the hotel room service is exceptional.
The must-visit places include Krishna mutt and Malpe beach among other places in Udupi district.
