Pros:
Kajol and her performance, concept
Cons:
The way story was unfolded

Love is the suicide of the ego. That’s why people are so afraid of love. People talk about it and even manage to fool others into
believing they love. But, in reality, people avoid love; because it requires the ultimate sacrifice - and not many people are willing to die for love.

                    "U Me aur Hum"

is an attempt to celebrate lifelong togetherness.. togetherness of two lovers.. relationships which are extraordinary & exemplary.. relationships which survive all odds and still stay together.. A story of sacrifice and a glimpse into dark shades of love.. A kind of love which is not always happy.. Love has its side-effects and this is what the movie is all about.

The movie rotates around 3 couples:

- One is unhappily married - Nikhil & Reena (Sumeet Raghavan & Divya Dutta)

- Another happily unmarried - Vicky & Natasha (Karan Khanna & Isha Sharwani)

- and yet another is larger than life couple - Ajay & Pia (Ajay Devgan & Kajol)

“Ek ladke ke liye sabse haseen pal wo hota hai jab wo kisi ladki ko patata hai... aur mujhe ye mauka har din milta hai...” – says Ajay

The core concept of the movie is inspired from a hollywood movie - Fifty First Dates (FFD), which is incidentally one of my all-time favorite movie. Strike similarities to FFD is visible when Ajay makes the above given statement while narrating the story of his life to his ailing wife (Pia) on their 25th anniversary.

While in FFD, the attempts made by the guy to make the girl fall for him all over again, every single day, were exhibited; In UMAH, it is not observant. UMAH focusses only on displaying the concept as if trying to preach something. Hence, the movie lacks entertainment & mushy touch.

Performances

Kajol
as Pia is the heart of the movie. Yet again, she has proved her niche in cinema. Her performance was much more than brilliant. With her acting skills, she manages to bring tears to our eyes and thats the true test of acting..

Ajay Devgan as Ajay was not impressive; however, as a director he managed not to be a loser. How I wished in the first half of the movie that it was SRK and not Ajay who was trying to woo Kajol!

Rest all the actors did their job well but at times they went overboard which added to the melodramatic effects in the movie.

Music

Music is not bad but its not even good. It is somewhere between good and bad. Songs are hummable but for the time being. Best one is -

"jinko jinko bhi milna hai likha... ishq milwayega"

My Analysis

Despite cooking up a fresh concept the movie doesn’t suit the indian taste. It strives on the emotional quotient and in the process lending the movie a melodramatic touch and hence audience fail to relate to it.  Neither is it an entertaining movie. With a concept as serious as this one, you can’t expect to be entertained. It is a heavy dose of love.

Now you know, what to expect from this movie. Anyone going to watch it after reading my review would be saved from the disappointment that I had to face.

A PJ from the movie which I liked

Q.Aisi ladki ko kya kehte hai jo apne baap ko dhakka deti hai?
A.Push-Pa

"Don’t fall in love but rise in love.."

   - kahin pada tha.. par kisi ne to likha hoga
