Without a doubt, the worst travel experience of my life.  We were returning from Charles de Gaulle earlier this week to find that the airport was closed (so the pilot announced, though my wife saw at least one plane take off).  We were stuck on the tarmace for more than an hour/.   Not US Airway’s fault, and besides, if the airport is closed all the flights would be delayed, so we could still make our connecting flight, right?  Wrong.  This would be bad enough, but the flight that took off without us was the continuation of our flight (same flight number).  Left to grope our way through "standby limbo," we had to run through two terminals to get our names on "the list" for the next flight.  In addition to being rude, the agents at the second desk never even bother to announce the names of standby passengers.  We somehow found seats, only to be treated to three more hours on the tarmac.  We finally got to Charlotte around 11:30 PM; and we were lucky.  I know there are passengers booked on the late afternoon flight to Charlotte who got stuck in the Philly airport overnight (and are probably still there, for all I know).  The humorous note is that, while we were waiting for the weather to clear and other passengers were understandably upset about their connecting flights, the flight attendant assured them that there were "teams" working on rerouting and rebooking passengers.  Must have all been on break when our flight to Philadelphia arrived, because we were definitely on our own.

US Air: worst airline in the nation definitely, probably worst in the world, and quite possibly the worst means of public transportation ever devised.
