Pros:
**Some of the greatest**
Cons:
**I feel old :P**

Abhishek Bachan. The icon of cool, of style, of image. The charismatic figure who succeeds to astound the world. The destined beloved of Chandra.

No don’t worry, this isn’t another
one of my fairy tales unfortunately, though I do know how much each and every one of you love them! I was just stating some lovely facts and mentioning my lovely Abhishek because he brings me good luck! :-)

So many of you have probably written twenty reviews and shrugged it off. Well that would be because you are fast writers, and I’m slow. You may not believe it, but I have been here for six long months! So I decided to write my twentieth review on the twenty best Hindi songs. Get it?

1. Dus Bahaane (Dus):
You all knew it was coming. With an indo western beat, Hindi lyrics with some English twined in and Abhishek Bachan looking straight at you and singing, this song was bound to make it to the top. A fast paced love song, it also has the right beat for a dance and has been number one in the charts for the last two months.

2. Pehla Nasha (Jo jeeta wohi sikandar):
This was also an inevitable choice. This song expresses the first trance, the first emotion that you feel with your first love (like Abhishek!). Along with having beautiful lyrics, this song is also very well sung by Udit Narayan and Sadhana Sargam. Aamir Khan also looks so sweet in the video of this song!

3. Tujhe Hai Pukaara (Swades):
Anyone who is separated from their country will feel very touched after hearing this song. It is a very patriotic song, which could apply to anyone, anywhere and expresses the feeling of loss you feel when you are not residing with your own people. I love the dialogue mentioned in this song, “Its like having a lamp, but the lamp gives its light to your neighbours,” and that is exactly what this song conveys.

4. Jab Koi Baat (Jurm):
This song has been remixed a countless number of times, but nothing ever comes close to challenging the original. A beautiful love song which conveys the trust and support between two people in love, this is another song which immediately became a hit, and will be carried on through generations as a legendary song.

5. Dhum Dhum Dhol (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam):
This had to be mentioned: the song played in every single Navratri and Garba and party! It is a song designed to dance to but the lyrics are also very entertaining and the singers have done a great job of making it a fast-paced and enjoyable song to dance to.

6. Chura Liya Hai Tumne (Yaadon ki Baarat):
One song which must be known by nearly everyone reading this review would be Chura Liya. The expressal of love from one person to another, saying that he has stolen her heart, backed by a nice steady beat and a strumming guitar is what made this song become renowned and still loved by millions of people around the world.

7. Aao Naa (Kyun? Hogaya Naa:
This popular song, from a not so popular film was thankfully well advertised before the film came out, so could be appreciated by everyone. In fact, it was because of this beautiful love song that I actually went to see this film! This is another duet, full of the typical Hindi clichés which I know that I can never get tired of. It is also wonderfully sung and the music is striking.

8. Kuch Naa Kaho (1942: A Love Story):
Another legendary love song, Kuch Naa Kaho was also full of original and emotionally sung lyrics, with soothing and mellow music. Every song in this film was as lovely as the next, and came together to form a legendary soundtrack but this song explaining the mutual expressal of love that doesn’t need to be spoken really stood out.

9. Dola Re Dola (Devdas:
This song has gone international! My French friend and her dance team danced to it in France and they are not even Indian! How wonderful is that? This proves the ever growing popularity of both Indian dance, cinema and this song. I don’t think any of us will forget the gorgeous red and white sarees, jewellery and the chorus step.

10. Dil ne ye kahan hai Dil se (Dhadkan):
This was another soundtrack which went amazingly hit, and this was another song which was made to be a hit. It is a song of persuasion and of the love felt by a man to a woman, and later on in the song, a female playback singer also sings! It is a beautiful love song which is not too fast and not too slow!

Half way through but my fingers are aching so so much!

11. Jaane Kyun (Dil Chahata Hai):
Not a love song for once! Well, actually it is kind of but it expresses the beauty of love, and the commitments and trials as well. It presents love as what it really is: both a lovely feeling, but still another obligation. That is probably why this song went greatly hit: because it pleases both the cynics and optimists of love!

12. Dil Hai ke Maanta Nahin (Dil Hai ke Maanta Nahin):
Another title song, which clearly states the denial that two people in love feel at first, but subconsciously they realise it. The music, lyrics and singers of this song contribute to make it a beautiful one, which expresses the pain one feels when they cant convey their love!

13. Dil Deewana (Maine Pyar Kiya):
This is another beautiful love song, expressing the hopes and dreams that a girl wants to fulfil for her beloved. It was also very well sung by Lata Mangeshkar and the picturisation was very sweet. Although this song is known by the minority, it is still loved by whoever listens to it.

14. Maahi Ve (Kal Ho Naa Ho):
An immediate hit, this song will also be one which will be played continuously in parties and festivals to come. The dance steps have been memorised by so many people, the song has a fast Punjabi beat to it, but still meets the modern requirements by having some English lost in it!

15. Bumbro Bumbro (Mission Kashmir):
I’m on a Preity Zinta roll, no don’t worry I detest her! Sorry! Anyway, this song is another one to do a lovely dance to and the lyrics are very metaphorical. The lovely costumes, the wonderful voice of Sunidhi Chauhan all contribute to make this a lovely song!

**I know its long...but it is continued in the comments section!**
