Katra katra milti hai
Aug 01, 2008 11:54 PM 9277 Views

When it comes to R.D Burman it is truly a difficult task to choose only 20 of his innumerable songs. Here I would compile my favourites which may not feature his biggest hits.Actually R.D's compositions like Rahman's grows on you trmendously.

This explains why he never got any award for most of the compositions which are considered classics today(namely films like Ghar, Teesri Manzil, Amar Prem, Aa gale lag ja and all those Nasir Hussain films). His contemporary music directors may have got more popularity and awards in those times but 30 years later 85% of his compositions still sound fresh. He is the music director who songs have been remixed the most, 2 films have been dedicated to him and even top banners like Yash Raj are using his track for promoting their new film in 2008!(Bachna ae haseeno). My 20 favouries of R.D are as follows:

)Katra katra milti hai(Ijazat)-This is a nice example of a combination of good lyrics(gulzar), music, great picturisation and of course singing(who else but Asha tai!).

)Do Naina aur ek kahani(Masoom)-R.D has always used new talents wonderfully. But to get the national award for the very first hindi song is something Arati Mukherjee would surely cherish.

)Khali haath shyam aayi hai(Ijazat)

)**Tu tu hai wohi(Yeh wada raha)

)Naam Gum Jayega(Kinara)-**Wonderful lyrics!

)Piya Bawri(Khoobsurat)-Use of classical music beautifully!

)**Aaj kal pao zameen par(Ghar)

)Phirse aiyo badra bidesi(Namkeen)-**Talk about picturisation complementing a good song!

)Ek Baat kahun gar mano tum(Golmaal)-Aanewala pal is more popular from this movie but this song has amazing lyrics and sung by Lata wonderfully.

)**Aap ki aankhon mein kuch(Ghar)

)Pyar hua chupke se(1942 a love story)

)Pyar ke mod pe(Parinda)

)Silli hawa choo gayi(Libaas)

)Jaa ne jaa dhundta phir raha(Jawani Diwani)

)Roz roz aankhon tale(Jeeva)-**The film was a dud but man.what a song!

)Raina beeti jaye(Amar Prem)-Who says R.D was partial to Asha!

)**Saawan ke Jhule pade hai(Jurmana)

)Ae ri paawan(Bemisal)

)Jaane kya soch kar(Kinara)

)Hai woh pardesi(Barsaat ki ek raat)-**Try listening to it if you already have not.You will not be disappointed.

There are many more like Mera kuch saaman, Tumne mujhe dekha, Nadiya kinare pe.oh god the list is endless.
