NUMERO UNO..... Review on Twenty Best Songs of R.D. Burman

Now this is what I call a leviathan task! choosing my faves out of RD's encyclopedia of songs. Well, I am a mere 18 year old, and has been hooked onto RD ever since I was 16. I have laughed, cried and danced with his music and pancham da would always remain my'perfect man'!(along with lucky ali and manish malhotra)!

Following are some of my favourites by rahul!

1.Is mod se jaate hain.(the eternal and evergreen love song, isnt it? rd gulzar combo at its best!)

2.Hay re hay re.(fun, cute and yummy! hear asha and kishore romancing in this one. the bengali version where pancham replaces kishore is too good! this one is on the tops!)

1. Aisa kabhi hua nahin.(ever felt the bliss of realizing that u are in love? listen to kishore crroning in this one and u'll know what I am talking about!)

   
   




2. One.two. cha cha cha.(wanna salsa? this one's 4 ya! u'll just fall in'lust' with usha uthup's voice, man! and actually be jealous of a'mr.naidu's' presence in the number!)

   
   




3. Kal kya hoga.(another'i care a damn' attitude of rahul that reflects in this gulzar poem.seriously, the man has the knack to churn out just the right track for the situataion! check out the'hey hey hoo haaah!' in an interlude by him and his team! hunky!)

   
   




4. Main haseen hoon.(having a tough time coping up with a heartbreak, or an insult.listen to this asha bhosle chartburner from rickshawala! it works, honest! lifts up ur spirits absolutely! personal eperience!)

   
   




5. Rooth na jana tumse kahun to.(just have fun with this one! aaah!those were the days. when kumar sanu could actually sing!)

   
   




6. Tumse milke aisa laga tumse milke.(give me situation where u wrap urself in the arms of that someone special, in a wintry twilight, close to the hearth, with this one playing in the background. and i'll give u an eternity in heaven!)

   
   




7. Tu lajawab bemisal.(i dont know why I looooove this one, but I really do! maybe its the mushy yet haunting tune to it.)

   
   




8. Aya hoon main tujhko le jayunga.( aah. another piece of genius by the genius! check out the way he handles two types of rythems simultaneously occuring 1 after the other).

   
   




9. Ek paheli hai tu.(this one rules because of the such an uncanny music to it! its like pieces of conversations tuned out beautifully! and dnt miss out the fabulos saxophone work by manhori singh!)

   
   




10. Mehbooba mehbooba.(now who dosnt love this one.)

    
    




11. Phir wohi raat hai.(and this one.)

    
    




12. Ek ajnabi haseena se.(i have reasons to call this one special. majorly coz its an RD track, and also coz my boyfriend had dedicated it to me on our first date!)

    
    




13. Chanda o chanda.(this one's more than a lori! its a slice of life!)

    
    




14. Silli hawa choo gayee.(just the song to listen to in a moment of solitude. dripping with emotions and melody. by melody queen lata mangeshkar.)

    
    

17. O majhi tei nayia se.(whenever I am down and need that scoop of phylosophy in my life, I tune in to this one. rahul, in the track, thru his voice, metaphorically explains that acceptance is the key to be happy and content in life. love it!)

1. Nachoon main gao tum.(enough of seriousness! now for some fun.presenting asha in this club kinda number with amazing interludes from the.welll. genius! seriously, he's one man who actually understood the concept of good interludes and arranging!)

   
   




2. Aye sakhi radhike.(this raga based mellow number by manna dey and lata makes you get hooked to the rewind button of ur deck! u wanna hear it over and over again!)

   
   




3. Nisultana re.(rafi and lata at their naughtiest best! this one so much reminds me of shashi kapoor's good looks! gleep!)

   
   




4. Tum ho mere dil ki dhadkan.(just one word to describe this one.BEAUTIFUL!)

   
   




5. Raah pe rehtey hain.(this one from namkeen, fills you with pride for our soldiers of war. sentimental yet spirited! and only one man could render it!)

   
   




6. Khamosh sa afsana.(this one sketches a pensive mood around you, and u suddenly become so thoughtful! magic!)

   
   




7. Aise na mujhe tum dekho.(romantic. ROmantic.ROMANTIC! absolutely romantic! dripping romantic! ROMANTIC ROMANTIC!)

   
   

25.'Shono ei to shomoy'.(bengali track).(a BLUE at its best, with pancham singing it. this one is for all times and seasons! actually all RD tracks are! ok, this ones for loooong drives!)

So there u are! go ahead and listen to this! u'll be surprisd @ how right I am at the descriptions! we fashion design students have the knack to appreciate the beautiful things in life, see?
