Hello Friends, whenever I think of LATAJi and her songs, it becomes really very difficult to choose few as best from the whole lot. But since here the review demands just 20, I am putting down here the few that have touched my heart and are the favourite of the legend as well.

*1.

Aayega aane wala.

*Do you know that this song turned MADHUBALA into a living legend, though she didn't lip-sync it on-screen. It is said that Lataji was placed in one corner of the studio and was asked to approach the center to give it haunting sound.  With this song she wiped away the then existing singers including Suraiya. The song composed by Khemchand Prakash is evergreen in every sense. Even kahin deep jale kahin dil is of the same flavor and I would like to keep it on 1st number only. She sang this song after prolonged illness and the doctors had said that she won't be able to sing ever again but she sang and sang in such a way that everybody went gaga over her.

*2.

Aaja re pardesi.

This song won **Lataji her first Filmfare award. Penned by Shailendra and composed by Salil Chaudhary, the song has some real honest expressions. The way Lataji sang it, is still a matter of curiosity for me.

*3.

Allah tero naam.

*Composed by Jaidev, assistant of S.D Burman, it is one of the tallest devotional numbers ever. It is said that Pandit Jasraj woke up with tears in his eyesafter hearing this song. She even kept her differences aside to sing this number. It haunts you and after hearing it you won't hear any oter number.

*4.

Rasik balma(Chori chori) and uthaye ja unke sitam(Andaz)

*Both the songs have feelings never explored before. Composed by Shankar Jaikishan, thses are the best songs which came up with the plight of lady in love.

*5.

Raat ka sama, jhume chandrama and katon se kheech ke ye aanchal.

*Both these songs have exuberant feelings. Both make you dance and fly somewhere.away from this wordly tension. My ultimate favorites when come to light genre.

6**.

Chalte Chalte and inhi logon ne.*

These songs from the movie Pakeezah, evokes a stir. Best Mujra songs that can ever be written and composed again with the warmth of love.

*7.

Aye mere watan ke logon*

How Nehruji cried after hearing this song, is the history. What feelings of loss and pride are culminated in this composition. One of the best patriotic songs, ever done in any film.

8. Sheesha ho ya dil ho( Asha) and aapki ankhon mein(Ghar)

One is kinda romatic while other is sad. But both these songs have left an everlasing impression on me.

*9. Aa ri aa nindiya

Do beegha zameen*

The best lullaby I ever came across. How well Meena Kumari emoted to it and how well its been rendered by the legend.

*10.

Aye dil-e-nadan.*

Great song. Though the movie flopped but the song is yet looked as a fantastic creation.

*11.

Satyam shivam Sundram and bhor bhaye panghat pe.*

Both these songs from R K Banners are simply fantastic numbers. Time and again remixed but none has the freshness that these have originally.

*12.

Ajeeb dastan hai ye.

*This song from the movie dil apna or preet parayee seems to have become the favorite of Ekta Kapoor as well. You can listen it in her serials.

*14.

Mere hathon mein

*One of the best songs from Yash camp. No other shaadi song has the charm that this one has. Sri looks stunning and its simply mindblowing

And no space left for others therefore would say the chain goes on and Rahul stops here.
