I recently got my Car Insurance renewed through Trident and went to Pay the amount at Trident Hyundai-Kanakapura Road Service Center.
Since the amount was over 10k, I offered to use my Credit Card to which they said they would charge additional fees as Bank Charges.
Issue: Why charge extra for using Credit Card. Isn't that a convenience credit cards were popularized for and customers could benefit from the credit window.
What Actually happens: Bank charge fees to merchants(Trident in this case) for using their POS system and to provide them this additional option to accept payment from Customers.
Merchants have to absorb that additional cost and not pass on the same to Customer.
I asked Trident to issue me the receipt with a mention of those additional charges they levied on me.
And such are those people that they did so. I am not sure why this practice of passing on the burden to Customer.
They can simply refuse the Credit Card POS terminals from Banks and continue expecting Customer to pay cash.
But they don't do it because of losing business and on the contrary, if they expect the business to grow because of POS, then they should not pass on the cost to Customer.
In the receipt they have mentioned those extra charges as "Bank Charges" to which Bank clearly stated that they don't charge anything in such transactions.
Is anyone listening to plight of poor Customers. Gone are the days when "Customer used to be King"!
