Story:

While the one earlier written review is beautiful just for its simplicity, it does not stop me from writing one myself, because I just read the book a few days ago, and can't resist it. I bought Treasure Island and the Adventures of tom Sawyer from an online bookstore some time ago. Anyways, here is what the map for Treasure Island says:

Main characters:

Jim Hawkins - The poor lad gets the worst of it ever since the captain comes into his boarding house. Right from the moment he gets his hands on the treasure map, till the time he finishes all that has to be finished, this gutsy lad talks and fights his way through some real rough characters

Captain Trelawney, the Doctor and the Squire - The 3 good men, they ensure that the pirates beat a hasty retreat

Benn Gunn - The marooned former pirate and comrade of Captain Flint, he is the smart one, having left nothing for the others to do at the end. The fact that he also spends his share of the treasure in jut 20 days is another matter altogether

Long John Silver - The bad man turns good man character, this one legged old salt-of-the-sea helps Jim escape the wrath of his dirty buccaneering crowd.

The Story:

Jim's boarding house has a lodger in the form of a Captain, who appears to be very scared of someone or something. After incidents leading to the captain's death, Jim discovers that the captain has a map, which gives the location of an old sea pirate, Captain Flint's, hidden treasure. Helped by the Squire and the Doctor of his town, the lad embarks on a journey in the Hispaniola, captained by the upright Trelawney. Long John Silver, an experienced one-legged seaman, and his parrot, which keeps screaming ''Pieces of Eight'' and some other old sea hands join them.

Luckily, Jim discovers that Long John is a former comrade of Flints, and all the others are pirates as well. He goes through dangers galore to save himself and the few good men abroad, and at last manages to get the treasure. All that happens in between is the stuff stories are made of.

I read it again recently. I am 26 now, and it still brought out the child in me. There is not reason why you can't revisit this classic by Robert Louis Stevenson. I can only sing

''Fifteen men on a dead man's chest

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Drink and the devil had done for the rest

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum''

Enjoy !!..Adventures of Tom Sawyer - coming your way soon !!
