Disclaimer: I wish to point out that I do not have a vested interest in promoting or disapproving of Travelocity or any of its competitors. I will try to present, as fairly as possible, my solitary experience
with Travelocity. Having tried a number of Indian travel portals before, I decided to give Travelocity India a try after seeing their high-profile marketing campaign in the print media. So, in April 2009, I booked air tickets for my wife and infant daughter for travel to and from New Delhi and Kolkata. The travel from New Delhi to Kolkata was hassle free. However, the return journey from Kolkata to New Delhi was an eye-opener. My (infant) daughter was denied entry by Air India for the return journey on the premise that there was no booking for her! This despite the fact that the travel ticket that I had booked with Travelocity had a clear break-up of the adult and infant fare. My wife, after a lot of discussion with certain senior attendants/managers of Air India was left with no choice but to buy a fresh ticket for our infant daughter. My wife also got to know from Air India officials that there had been a few other similar cases with Travelocity where the passengers had been denied entry despite having a valid Travelocity booking. I want to point out here - and THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - that we tried to get in touch with Travelocity to try to resolve/clarify the matter but have been unable to do so over the past two days. I tried to check their website for dispute/complaint resolution mechanism but there is NONE. Even as I write this, I have been unable to get in touch with them. I have sent them a few mails highlighting the issue but there has been no response yet. I have tried MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip and Eezeego1 for air/hotel bookings and my experience has been good to say the least. It is good to know that for a change Indian businesses are giving a foreign run business (Travelocity) a run for its money. I would now be approaching the consumer court or other suitable legal authority to claim refund and damages. Will keep you posted on the matter as it develops. My advice: STAY AWAY FROM TRAVELOCITY!
