Well love and romance have been a part of Bollywood, and there have been some memorable screen couples who have set the silver screen ablaze with their passion and romance. There are certain pairs in Bollywood who certainly seem to be made for each other and this article is dedicated to them.

  1. Shahrukh-Kajol: This is one of the best Bollywood pairs I have seen. They bring a smoldering sensuality and raw passion to the screen. Shahrukh?s hyper energetic nature and Kajol?s natural acting compliment each other. My fav scenes of them together are the title song in Baazigar, Jaati Hoon Main in Karan Arjun. Of course all the scenes involving both of them in DDLJ were riveting, and they were so romantic together. My fav scene is in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai where they come together at his daughter?s summer camp and the scene where they have a brief dalliance in the rain. It was so erotic and passionate. Of course it was another matter that the movie was plain yuck. And don?t even want to talk about that super bore called K3G.

  2. Amitabh Bachan-Smita Patil: It?s a pity that they both came together in only two movies-Shakti and Namak Halaal, since I feel they were a real superb pair. Its even more of a pity that Smita is no more with us, since she is a powerhouse of talent, and with Amitabh doing pretty good movies now, both of them would have set the screen afire. Well they did set the screen ablaze with that rain song from Namak Halaal, that scene really had my nerves tingling, and though many criticized it as vulgar, I found it any day better than those Mithun or Govinda songs. His class and refinement perfectly matched her intelligence and sensuality. If the ?Bridges of Madison County? were to be remade in Hindi, I feel these two would have perfectly suited the lead roles.

  3. Amitabh Bachan-Jaya Bachan: While Rekha and Amitabh did make a good pair,it must be said that in most of their movies together Rekha was more or less relegated to the background. But as far as Amit-Jaya were concerned, they appeared to compete in their performances. Abhimaan where Amit plays a jealous husband who cannot tolerate his wife Jaya?s success. Mili where he plays a drunkard with a dark past, and learns to love life from the cancer stricken Mili(Jaya) and Chupke Chupke where Amitabh is a Hindi professor masquerading as a botany professor, with Jaya being his ardent fan are three of their best movies together. Other good movies of this pair are Zanzeer and Sholay.

  4. Amitabh Bachan-Rakhee: This pair appeared in a lot of movies and they really clicked well together. Guess Amitabh having worked in Calcutta appeared to have hit off with his Bengali co stars quite well. Again Amit?s intensity, was matched by Rakhee?s winsome beauty and her sensitiviness. Their best movies together were Kala Pathar, Trishul, Kabhie Kabhie( their scenes were so romantic), Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Barsaat Ki Ek Raat. Even in their latest movie together Ek Rishta, they still managed to look good and very much in love couple.

  5. Amitabh Bachan-Rekha: No two minds on this pairing. Easily one of the most romantic and passionate ones. Witness Rekha?s death scene in Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, one ean easily discern that they were very much in love. As also those lovey dovey and passionate scenes in Silsila. Don?t blame Amitabh though, its not easy to stop yourself from falling in love with Rekha. She still remains one of the most beautiful actresses and can give all the Preitys, Ranis and Ash?s a run for their money. Other good movies of this pair were Ganga Ki Saugand, Mr.Natwarlal and Do Anjanee.

  6. Amitabh Bachan-Zeenat Aman: The first time I saw Don I was absolutely floored by Zeenat, and I still continue to be floored by her today. She is so damn sexy and classy, that none of the Bipashas and Mallikas can even hold a candle to her. And when you put this sexy bindaas woman with Amitabh, the result is sheer magic. They made a great pair in Don together. Other good movies of theirs were Dostana, Mahaan( check out the Pyaar Mein Dil Se song) ,Laawaris and Pukar( the Samundar Mein Nahake song is really hot, by contrast the remixed version is pathetic).

  7. Dharmendra-Hema Malini: Garam Dharam, the Jat from Punjab and the Tamil miss with her southie accent, Hema Malini, opposites do attract. This pair was magic together on silver screen. The rough and tough, he man, Dharam provided an ideal foil to the Dream Girl. They were a laugh riot together in Sholay. Other good movies of them together Pratigya, Jugnu, Azad, DreamGirl, Charas, Aas Paas.

  8. Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh: Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karenge! That seemed to be the motto of this on screen as well as off screen couple. They indeed did behave like a couple madly in love who cared a damn for the world. Added to the fact that both were good dancers, they were the idol for many young lovers in the 70?s. My favorite is of course the song Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, from the movie Khel Khel Mein, where both of them really set the screen on fire with their superb dancing. Other good movies of this pair were Kabhie Kabhie, Doosra Aadmi, Jhoota Kahin Ka, Amar Akbar Anthony.

  9. Dev Anand-Nutan: Another great couple, but a pity that they came in only two movies ?Paying Guest and Tere Ghar Ke Saamne. I love the song Dil Ka Bhawar from Tere Ghar Ke Saamne, where Dev serenades Nutan on the steps of the Qutab Minar. Dev?s debonair and handsome personality perfectly suited Nutan?s impish charming nature. At a time when most of the love stories were rather heavy in nature, these two provided a welcome relief.

  10. Anil Kapoor-Madhuri Dixit: Like many other Indians in 1988,I was one of the persons who was mesmerized by the Madhuri magic. And she with Anil together were superb in that movie. Many of my friends in fact used to curse Anil for starring with Madhuri, but I do think they made a good pair. Though they had a lot of turkeys together like Jeevan Ek Sungursh and Jamaai Raja, they came up together with good movies like Raam Lakhan, Parinda, Beta, Khel, Kishan Kanhaiya and Pukar.

Other favorite pairs of mine are:

· Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla

· Dev Anand-Waheeda Rehman

· Sunil Dutt-Sadhana

· Shammi Kapoor-Asha Parekh
