Three men in a boat is loaded with British humour and often British humour is hard to grasp for Indians, with their references and rambling. But Jerome k. Jerome hits the nail on the head with'Three Men In A Boat' and brings out some of the silliest British absurdities and traditions in a comic way and takes us for a hilarious ride with this book.

This book was meant to be a travelogue of sorts but ended up becoming one of the most loved funny stories of all time, and even with 100+ years since publishing, the jokes remain fresh and witty as ever!

Three men in a boat was my first novel, I read it when I was in class sixth, because my favorite English language teacher recommend me to read it during my summer vacation. It is a story of three men- Jerome and his two friends- Harris and George and their dog, a fox terrier named montmorency who set out on a two week long holiday on the river Thames in Oxford, England. The three men suffer from a weird ailment to cure which they set out on the boating trip. The travelogue portion of the book is quite apparent and accurate as all the landmarks mentioned by Jerome are absolutely authentic and some of them are present even today. Though the book intended to be a travelogue, the main part of the book was overshadowed by the comic instances that crop up every now and then and make it a humorous tale. Jerome often digresses and starts off random anecdotes and ponders upon life, his detours truly know no bounds. It's each episode will leave you giggling in delight and the best is that it describes the common frustrations of life that you and I actually go through. This P.G Wodehouse-y book filled with wry, sarcastic humour, wit, misadventures, exaggerations, mad caps, twists, and sheer silliness will leave you pleasantly happy at the end.
