This is regarding my TV 21DF7DC.I bought it in March-98 when Thomson had just launched. They promised a 5 year guarantee.I was fooled into believing that this is a American Company with a reputation.I paid the price for it.After I bought the TV,the dealer asked me to fill the guarantee form and return it to him, which I promptly did.I immediately went on my Job abroad. When I came back after 7.5 months,my guarantee card had still not come.I contacted my dealer who said I should contact Thomson service centre then at Juhu opp.Amitabh's Bungalow. After several agonising calls & visits later I found the staff totally disinterested & careless, with no courtesy at all towards the customers.I finally decided to write a letter to Thomson Head office at Chennai with a copy to Times of India,Mumbai.Immediately the guarantee card was sent to my address almost exactly one year after the purchase of the TV.
Now, the TV has started giving problems like memory card/strip malfunction 5 times in the last 4 months. It is difficult to get through the telephone lines to lodge a complaint, & if successful, people are argumentative & non-co-operative.
Also the TV goes blurred while switched on .Its nearing the end of guarantee period & I am not sure whether to give it to the nearby Ragpicker or thro' it out.
The website address given to me by the technicians boss was also wrong. http://www.thomson-india.com
So much for the Multinationals.
