When heroes like Surya and Vikram are experimenting with different roles all the time, Vijay is one hero who is contented with the SAME usual stuff each time!

It's almost like 'change the order of events in a movie and generate the next

movie!' Nice permutations at work in his formulas, here, though our man is no

Mathematician!

What to look for in a Vijay movie:

1)Typically he would be an uneducated youth, whiling away time, but gold at heart.

2)He would meet the heroine and fall in love INSTANTLY.

3) There would be one scene exposing his knowledge of English, or showing him as an uneducated but gold-at-heart character, something like 'Dharma durai' or 'padikkadhavan' Rajini...

4) ATLEAST one 'Gana' song. This song will have no connection with the movie,

usually with a popular heroine roped in just for this.

5) He has to unite a couple in love.

6) There has to be a comedian (either Vivek or Vadivelu, mostly!) who is his

friend.

7) There will be opposition to his love either from the girl herself or through

the parents factor or the 'family prestige' factor.

8) One scene where he says 'What is Love'.... I think he hires a writer to

constantly find new definitions for 'Love'...

Lots of other free advice would be free flowing throughout the movie!

9) 2 fights are a MUST!

Now conjure up a story with all these ingredients and there you have! A story

that's MADE-FOR-VIJAY!

I guess you'd have decided by now what the fate of his latest movie 'Thirumalai'

is... I could sit through this movie because of a few positive points, and ofcourse, being his fan, Just for Vijay!

This movie begins similarly, with Vijay owning a Mechanic shop.

This time he drives a fancy motor bike. Lawrence comes for some bike racing scenes

& a song and disappears altogether.

Suddenly some TV channel host wants to present some evidence about a local don and is threatened by him while being taped!

The scenes are without any class and frustratingly amateurish.

They also disappear for the next 40 minutes or so.

Now Vivek comes in for a few scenes and then disappears for a loooong time!

Now you get the picture... I wished the director would disappear from the Scene

after this movie!

LOL

ROTFL (Rolling on The Floor Laughing)...

He meets Jyothika (aka JO of 12B fame) on New Year's eve.

In Vijay movies usually there will be Valentine's day celebration in a large

ground.

The guys will be waiting with roses and shy to tell their one-sided 'love'...

This time here it is New Year's eve...

The next day he tells Jo that he loves her! Blatant. No class in the scene.

He continues his pursuit as usual.

There was a similar theme in 'Run' when Madhavan pursues the heroine, but the

treatment was a lot better...

Finally Jo yields in, but there is no romance between the pair!.

Jo is a shadow of

what I saw in 'Kaakka Kaakka' (maybe it was the Surya effect then? ;))

Raghuvaran and Kausalya (yes, the one who was the top heroine a few years back)

are a senti couple who consider vijay as their family member.

Nice sentiment, with Raghuvaran displaying his usual class. Again, very similar to

'Run'...

Enter 'Paambazhaghi' Kiran for the customary 'Gaana' song... and disappears...

Soon Ajay Rathnam is introduced as a police officer acting as a 'chela' for the Home Minister... he is killed the next scene...

That's it. This scene has no connection with the movie! The scene itself disappears!

I think the director wanted to make a movie like Dhool, initially and got confused!

Now Vivek he comes back with some good comedy...

The scene where he lands up in Tirupati after taking all the road diversions is

hilarious! Especially when he shouts 'Laddaaaaa'... reminds me of his famous

'KaaKKAAaaVaaaaa' from 'Run' after he eats the crow-biriyani!

Now it is time for Jo's father to oppose the love. He hires the 'local don' who

makes his reentry to do the usual stuff...

Rest is history.

Vijay beats them at every encounter and lands the Prize.

His Character is shown well, though, as a straight-to-the-heart guy!

Clap Clap Clap!!!

Laudable effort.

I hope the director switches to doing TV serials, from now!

But amidst all these, the movie is atleast watchable due to Vijay's antics and gets 3 stars JUST FOR VIJAY! and his characterization!

His styles, dances, and his love-sentiment dialogues, though repetitive are

something i'll never tire of watching!

Here are positive points, in this otherwise repetitive movie!

The confrontation scenes with JO's father and the 'local don'

have fiery dialogues by Vijay and his speeches make lot of sense!

Infact, the character of Vijay is well portrayed in this movie, much better than his earlier movies! He plays the role of a local guy perfectly.

In short, if you are a die-hard Vijay fan, u'd not be disappointed. But for all

others who want something new in a movie, this is strict barbwire territory!

I can't believe that this movie could do too good at the BO... Tamil cinema has reduced to mainstream bollywood levels!
