Thekkady is a place where I enjoyed a lot. It is very near to kumily bus stop. I stayed in Periyar House which is inside the forest. Really it will be thrilling. The Periyar house phone number with std code (04869)222546 & 222447. There we can go for boat riding. The boat raiding will be for 1& half hour. for that they will charge Rupees 50 per person. In that hotel when we were staying we took 3 rooms, They will allow only 2 persons in a room. The cost of one roam rent per day was Rs. 1500. We stayed there for 4 days. In that morning breakfast & night food are included in that rent. In that restaurant bar is also attached. There is a check post where the Forest guards they will not allow if you reach there after 6 pm. In that lodge there is childrens play ground also. And 2 km away there is a temple & also musiem. When we went for boat raiding we saw so many elephants, buffaloes, deers etc. If you are interested to come in train means the nearest station is kotteyam. Just 110 km from thekkady.

Altitude: 900-1800 m above sea level

Rainfall: 2500 mm

The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. In the Periyar forest of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India, and spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks.
