Secrets were never easy.either to make.or to discover!
Life is not easy to figure out.and I usually avoid doing that first thing in the New Year! In fact I refuse to do it anytime of my life.because according to me.you can never figure it out… completely! But.may be someone close to me.felt that I should atleast give it a shot.
And so here it was.SECRETin a nice gift wrap.on my birthday.looking at me in anticipation.waiting to be unwrapped.inviting me to its secrets!
In the first glance itself, the cover itself is beautiful.it has a charm.it just so visually appealing.no wonder most of us would like to hold a book which has such a strong appeal.the colours, the layout.it is a definite thought out cover page!
I usually like to read most of my books in one go.but prefer to read these so called help books at leisure.since they require time.and some amount of thinking.Don't assume I have read many of these self help classics.because I don't.and I never ever buy them for myself.**I usually end up gifting or getting them as gifts.which may be implies that people around me feel the need to spruce me up! And I feel the same urge for others.!
Anyway.to cut a deviating story short.I managed to read the Secret.in 3 months! It is a good book.the author has tried to make the book interesting.engaging.you even have summary points post each chapter.which again makes it an easy read.because you can just flip through some of the chapters if you don't like to read every word. It is not a boring book.but it needs to read and related.which is kind of difficult if you are not the types who can relate events more than why the boss was angry.why did the share prices rise.and why did I not get bonus!
I cannot.
But.I am firm believer of destiny and that each event in life happens for a reason.and sooner or later we decipher the reason**.the only catch is that you need to be open and smart enough to relate the reasons.
The author deals with life in a very calm sort of way.and sometimes you can laugh at the secret being revealed.and doubt the theories too.but again.if you think about it.Her theories do not have a side effect!These are not easy to implement.and definitely not easy to imbibe in each day of your life.but it can surely be tried.
For instance.rather than saying I hope the day is good.I now say.the day is good.Which does not make the day good automatically…but it doesn’t spoil your day as well…and somewhere deep down you give out vibes which say…” DAY is good!”…
The author has tried to relate the secret to various elements like love, money, success etc…I feel the section on money could have been dealt with at a greater details…since I feel that we all need money to keep us rolling…but apparently she didn’t feel that way…she felt it wasn’t the most important factor of a successful living…for her secret was always within us and we need to just find it…~
In all, it isn’t a great book…because it talks about beliefs which are very difficult to inherit…not impossible but just plain difficult…a lot of us would ridicule the thought of being happy because of no reason…may be cynicism has tip-toed in our lives to an extent where we refuse to believe in goodness or the thought of being at peace with ourselves…this is where the book fails…not the fault of the author or the concept…it is not their failure.it is merely a failure of us…because we are not willing to give us a chance to be happy and at peace! Sometimes in life you need a book…to tell you that smiling doesn’t cost anything!
Read the book at leisure.it has changed lives of people.may be not because of the book though! I believe lives change.because one wants to change it.The person who gave me the book is still the same.but our relationship has changed.She is still looking for peace.and I am looking for peace too. for her.may be life has changed in someway:)
~ I believe that 2009 will be a year of change for me…I want to get back to writing…back to some of my dreams and desires…and give myself a chance to be happy! Hope the New Year is special to you all too!
