It is the tunes and not the creators that are remembered. I feel it is remarkable that Laxmikant-Pyarelal's success lasted more than three decades (1963-1998) despite changes in trends, tastes and lifestyles and without the kind of media hype, marketing and promotion as seen today. In their time, they only had the radio [for publicity]. Laxmi-Pyare's music was not about one or two hit songs per film. The entire album would be a hit.

Few years ego EMI London (UK) had released a lovely CD “LATA MANGESHKAR with LAXMIKANT-PYARELAL”. This CD is still in much demand outside India particularly in Europe and USA.

It is an open fact that Lata Mangeshkar sounds extremely melodious under Laxmikant-Pyarelal and does not require any media publicity.

Lata Mangeshkar has sung all together 666 numbers of songs under the banner of Laxmikant-Pyarelal, which remains RECORD in itself. Not only that, Lata-LP team has also given the maximum varieties of songs which includes Indian Classicals, Gazals, Bhajans, Mujara, Folk and Western style and all these varieties are available in this CD. According to EMI London (UK), it was very difficult task to select only 16 best songs of Lata-LP combination.

Just listen to the variation of 24 years (1963 – 1987) of Lata-LP. Any Hindi Film Music Lover, who likes old songs, would like to have this CD.

Jeevan Dor Tumhi Sang Bandhi “Sati Sawitri” (1964).

An excellent song in Raag 'Yaman Kalyan'. The meaningful wordings of this song are penned by Pandit Bharat Vyas. The Indian wife is telling how she is deeply involve in his life. This song is so sweet and melodious that I listen to this at least once in day. This one is Lata's personal favorite song.

Khabar Mori Na Li Ni, Bahot Din Beete “Sant Gyaneshwar” (1964).

Once again the combination of Pt. Bharat Vyas, Lata and LP. The song is based on Raag 'Shivranjani'.

Suno Sajana Papeehe Ne “Aaye Din Bahar Ke” (1966).

This song is yet another sweet melody and based on Raag 'Pahadi'. The flute in this song is played by Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia. The song is written by late Anand Bakshi.

Dil Bil Pyar Vyar Main Kya Janu Re “Shagird” (1967).

Top Chartbuster Song of Binaca Geet Mala in 1967. This song is also a personal favorite song of Lata. The song is panned by late Mazarooh Sultanpuri.

Chalo Sajana Jahan Tak Ghata Chale “Mere Hum Dum Mere Dost” (1968).

This sweet song is delicately sung by Lata. Dholak played in this song tells how strong were LP in using Dholak. The Santoor in this song is played by Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. The song is written by late Mazarooh Sultanpuri.

Aa Jan-E-Jan Aa Mera Ye Husn Jawan “Intquam” (1969).

Such sweet and melodious western style song can be delivered only by LP-Lata. Lata has sung two cabarets songs under LP, before this but this is all time hit. The song is written by late Rajendra Krishna. It also the personal favorite song of Lata.

Bindiya Chamakegi “Do Raaste” (1970).

All time hit, Punjabi Folk song of Lata-LP. Mumtaz became STAR actress after this song. Top Chartbuster Song of Binaca Geet Mala in 1970. Once again Lata’s personal favorite song. This hit song is written by late Anand Bakshi.

Zil Mil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga “Jeevan Mrityu” (1970). Yet another sweet melody from Anand Bakshi-Lata-LP.

Jab Bhi Jee Chahe Nayee Duniya “Daag” (1973).

This Gazal song is penned by late Sahir Ludhianvi. Lata has sung this song on very high pitch.

Hi Hi Ye Majaboori “Roti Kapada Aur Makan” (1974).

Yet another Western Style melody from Lata-LP. Use of Guitar is excellent. The song is written by Verma Malik.

Satyam Shivam Sundaram “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” (1977).

Late Pt. Narendra Sharma has written this devotional song. Lata’s personal favorite song. In this song LP has used Raag ‘Darabari Kanda’, which is rarely used in film music.

Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki “Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki” (1979).

Excellent use of Sarod in this song. The song is penned by late Anand Bakshi.

Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Aakhir Tut Jata Hai “Aasha” (1980).

The best song in the form of GAZAL. Lata has responded remarkably well to LP’s powerful Dholak.

Tere Mere Beech Main “Ek Duje Ke Liye” (1981).

This song is based on Raag ‘Mishra Shivranjani’. Yet another extremely sweet, melodious and catchy song from Anand Bakshi-Lata-LP combination.

Ye Galiya Ye Chaubara “Prem Rog” (1982).

This Punjabi Folk song is extremely well sung and composed by the team of late Anand Bakshi, Lata-LP. Just enjoy it.

O Ramji Tere Lakhan Ne “Ram Lakhan” (1987).

This MUJARA song is based on Raag ‘Yaman Kalyan’. Anand Bakshi-Lata-LP combination.

If any music lover who further wants to enjoy only “ Lata Mangeshkar” – “Laxmikant-Pyarelal” combination then you should go for following CD/Cossets, in which 90% of the songs are sung by Lata Mangeshkar only.

Sati Sawitri (’64), Lootera (’66), Sharafat, (’70), Abhinetri (’71), Jal Bin Machhali Nritya Bin Bijali (’71), Mera Gaon Mera Desh, (‘71), Raja Jani (‘72), Satyam Shivam Sundaram (’77) and many more.

Long live LATA MANGESHKAR.
