Well well well... let me tell you a short story first.... as long as I can remember I had dandruff... a case not severe enough to be a social problem but not mild enough also for me to ignore... and it was not only in winter but the whole year through! phew!
Needless to say from my teens I tried varied number of products that would satisfactorily remove my problem once and for all... and like hits and misses I finally found the magic potion!!!
The body shop ginger anti-dandruff shampoo ....!!!!
When I started using it procuring a bottle of any body shop product was a costly and rather dubious affair... but now body shop products are very widely available in most upmarket department stores in India.
Body shop is basically a uk based company and the two most important thing one should keep in mind while purchasing any product from this company are that;
all the products are herbal... chemicals are only the base... mild enough for any skin
the products are not tested on animals... so they are cruelty free! so completing my story..
I used body shop's ginger anti-dandruff shampoo for a full 3 months.... and believe me I saw results.... not only were my summer flakes gone but the winter dandruff build up had also cleared... so I waited for a month to check if there was recurrence (mind you its no use if the effect is temporary!) and really nothing came back!
Why I still used it for more than a year?.... well because of its heavenly smell ! and the texture it gives ones hair after a wash.... filled with active ginger root and birch bark infusions this shampoo leaves your hair feeling cleaned,nourished, loved and most importantly smelling like a thousand bucks!
the shampoo is easy to use... just apply root to tip...work up a lather... leave for a minute or two...so that its ingredients can act on your scalp and then rinse of with water. the shampoo is gentle enough to be used everyday!
If you have oily hair... ideally you don't need to use any conditioner after the shampoo... remember dandruff in oily hair is mostly due to the excess secretion of the sebaceous gland (and not due to dryness as is popularly believed)... wash your hair atleast thrice a week with it.
For dry/normal hair please follow up with any conditioner... does not necessarily have to be a body shop product (if you have the mullah to afford it, splurge please!).
For people who use gels and other grooming products use of shampoo after each such application for effective clean up is a must... nothing beats dandruff like cleanliness.
Try the product for 3 months or till a bottle lasts...whichever is earlier and see if there is any marked difference. in case your dandruff problem does persist it might be a case of severe dandruff and you may like to use johnson and johnson nizoral (price rupees 100) or contact your dermatologist. Please do not go into any further experimentation, it would ruin your hair.
