Story:

Tintin is a character created by Herge , a cartoonist. From what I have read about Herge , he was involved in army service and had seen much of the world. He translated his experiences into a comic series called Adventures of Tintin.

For starters , Tintin is a reporter who lives with his faithful dog Snowy. Captain Haddock meets Tintin for the first time in the book '' The Crab with the Golden Claws ''. Captain Haddock is an old sea dog and descendant of Sir Francis Haddock , a knight of Queen Elizabeth I . Haddock is short tempered and a profound alcoholic. After the book '' Red Rackham's Treasure'' , Captain Haddock gets back Marlinspike estate , once owned by his ancestors and Tintin and Professor Calculus live with him at Marlinspike.

Professor Cuthbert Calculus is a scientific genius and makes many astonishing discoveries. However he is hard of hearing and this gives rise to several comical situations.Professor calculus is introduced to the readers for the first time in the book '' THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN''.

Besides there are other characters such as the Thompson Thomson twins , who are detectives and are always getting thmselves into trouble.Jollyon Wagg an irritating insurance agent with his equally irritating large family.Bianca Di Castafiore the opera singer by whose singing Haddock is terrified.General Alcazar , Nestor , Irmaa , Rastapopulous are some other characters of this series.

The quality of Herge's books is that his comic can be enjoyed by youngsters as well as by grown ups. He portrays Tintin as a person who fights for a just cause and shuns violence. Using characters and situations herge creates good humour in his books. The illustrations speak louder than words.

Some of the situations are unreal but they are excuseable in a comic book and good for entertaining reading.Tintin's adventures take him around the world from India , Egypt , Tibet , America even underwater and even in outer space.

Tintin books are so entertaining once you read one book you can't stop till you read all of them.Even if you read the same book once again you wont be bored. Some of the novels have been made into cartoon films.

Very very good books , highly recommended.
