I have enjoyed the thought and effort to put into an Advertisement more than a television serial or a movie. It is tough to grab attention in the 30 second to 90 second Advertisements. But few Ads have
done that, which I rate as best 5 Ads. The countdown starts ... Well, it actually hasnt started ... Before I start the list, the disclaimer - this is my list; purely a personal opinion rather than a researched review. Now the countdown definitely starts ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~! 5. The Hands free comfort - VIP frenchie ! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The couple is dancing. The man seems to be in such discomfort. The discomfort is at the peak when the lady tries to jump into the hands of her man from over a table; the man removes his hand involuntarily, at just that moment and she falls down with a thud. I can’t think of making such an enjoyable ad for such a product. No vulgarity whatsoever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~! 4. chutki mein chipkaye – Fevikwik ! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I do not know hindi much, so please excuse if I had mispronounced the captionUpdate after posting: Caption corrected with help ... Previously, Chupki me chupkayen .. Still close rite? :)An old/well dressed gentleman is fishing and appears as though he has been waiting for long to get hold of one. A common man (a tamilian), comes in shouting a tamil song and the other one who has been waiting for long, says ‘Shhhhhh’ (Do not make noise or the fishes will escape). This man is least bothered and goes about his task; takes a rod and places fevikwik, “Onnu rendu .. .anju” (“One two … five” drops) and places the rod in water and 4 fishes stick immediately!
The tone in the voice of the tamilian and the gestures by the old man together made the Ad more enjoyable. The way he says “Kedachachu” (“Yeah, I got it!”) still lingers in my mind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~! 3. Bhujaye Sirf Pyaas, Baaki Sub Bakwaas - Sprite !~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Few pretty looking girls are standing and our hero as usual tries to impress. He pulls out his mobile phone and speaks to someone as though he is a millionaire and he trips around the world almost everyday. As he keeps speaking, the phone rings!
Not sure if people remember this one. One of the coolest Ads you would have ever seen. I believe it was the first Ad as soon as Sprite got introduced (not sure here). Many did not understand this first – How can you get a call (i.e. your mobile phone ringing) when you are already on a call? It was just the beginning of cell phone era and Sprite made most out of it to produce this wonderful and yet simple Ad
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!2. Our network follows wherever you go – Hutch !~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~No need to describe this. Not just one ad, but also the entire series was just wonderful. If it could make a dog breed (the pug variety) popular, then you will have to rate it as one of the best (probably it was already famous and I did not know about it before seeing the Ad). The series was so much conceptual but yet attractive. More importantly, you can laugh at that every time you watch it, you never get tired of this ad.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!1. “One black coffee please” – Ericsson !~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~And this one is THE BEST An old man is waiting for the bearer in a hotel and notices a young woman next to his table. She asks him for a dinner together and this man is not able to believe his luck. He willingly goes to her and as he gets himself ready to sit besides her, she takes out her Ericsson phone from her ears and says to him, “One black coffee please”.
The concept is that the phone is too small that the person did even not notice her speaking on it (The actual size of the phone as of today standards is horrible; ‘a brick’ is how I prefer to call it!). This is the first Ad I have ever enjoyed. It was showing some 10 years back and was way ahead of its time. It could still be a terrific Ad even today, just that the phone model is now outdated. What a tragedy!
I might have missed few really good ones. Help me recollecting them by leaving your comments.
