Ten Best Songs of A.R. Rehman

A common question is how many A.R. Rehman songs last the initial euphoria and u can get back to them and how much is he helped by the choreographers? I think some of his work is truly pioneering and u
can grow to like the songs without seeing them on-screen.
So I have to pick A.R. Rehman’s ten best songs. Well Iam handicapped since I have not listened to a lot of his southern scores, unless they are dubbed in Hindi. I think still from the vast reportoire of his songs, selecting 10 is quite difficult.
So top 10 songs of A.R. Rehman are:

1) DIL SE - Well this is for me the title song of his best album. It has excellent beats, melody. is typically Rehmanis, good lyrics and also Rehman singing himself.

2) Radha Kaise Na Jale - From Lagaan, it is vintage Rehman with period flavor, unique instrumentation and going Indian classical with a vengence. A remarkable Indian song.

3) Taal Se Taal Mila - Another gem of a song rooted in Indian classical again but with seeped in melody and extrordinary instrumentation, almost as if rain itself is composing the music. Fresh as a dew always, brilliant song.

4) Tanha Tanha - One of the more western sounding tunes but with excellent lyrics and exquisite orchestra, the music is more ravishing and Asha Bhonsle is a treat. The song has sensouality embedded in it in every minute.

5) Vande Matram - An epic reinvented for todays context. The unusually high score gels and lifts the spirits everytime u will hear it.

6) Kismet Se Tum Humko Mile Ho - The lyrics are poignant and brilliant and the music is grand in orchestra and feel. The traditional melody runs through the song and differnet musical undertones make it a pleasure to listen to this song.

7) Chhoti Si Asha - Simple, sweet, catchy and performed on beats of reggae it is brilliant composition which sounds even now as fascinating as ever.

8) O Re Chhori - Excellent in bringing in so much to just one song. English instruments, Indian instruments, melody, old world charm and exquisite blending make this a wonderful song.

9) Nahin Samne - Tall’s underplayed song but one with a great contemporary touch and appeals to a lonely mood like a duck to a water.

10) Kahin Aag Lage - Again from Taal, an excellent song with unique combo of Asha Bhonsle and AR Rehman shinign again.
