To pick 10 songs of Rahman’s compositions is never easy. And of course, i might have missed many of his other songs from consideration, either probably i would not have heard, or because i forgot the song. Though i have tried to include the hindi albums of Rahman into this list, not many hindi songs feature in the list. This can also be attributed to hearing tamil songs more frequently than the hindi songs.

10. Sowkiyama - Sangamam - a really beautiful song in Maand, with Nithyashree in vocals, and Kadri Gopalnath in Saxaphone.

9. Anbe Sugama - Parthale Paravasam - though the movie was nt a hit, all the songs were very good, and this one is the pick of the album, The violin piece in the middle and towards the end are very nice.

8. Ishq Bina - Taal - No testimonials needed for this song, The usage of flute is extremely soothing.

7. Snegithane / Chupke se - Alaipayudey / Saathiya - This was the first song i heard from Sadana Sargam, and i rate this to be her best so far. The song along with the picturization of PC Sriram make this so memorable

6. Pennalla Pennalla - Uzhavan - An SPB + Rahman combination, this sweet song makes u listen again and again, the usage of various instruments, guitar, veena, flute, make it more sweeter.

5. Endhan Vanin - Kadhal Virus - Another SPB + Rahman combination, a pathos number. The director of that movie Kadhir, who extracts best out of the music directors usually, brings out one of the best Rahman’s melodies.

4. Vennilave Vennilave - Minsara Kanavu - The pick of the album, which is one among the best albums of Rahman. I will pick this song to be Hariharan’s best song for Rahman.

3. En Uyir Thozhiye - Kangalal Kaidhu Sei - This album may not be that famous compared to other ARR albums, probably because the movie wasnt a hit. But ARR’s songs for this movie were top notch. And this song by Unni Menon and Chinmayee is the best of the album.

2. Anjali Anjali - Duet - Another SPB + Rahman combination, and this being the best of the lot. Chitra’s humming during the 2nd interlude makes one to listen in a loop.

1. Munbe Vaa - Sillenu Oru Kaadhal - The best song ARR has composed so far, in my opinion, And of course, many people may not agree with this. And this took the place just because of the number of times it forced me to listen again and again in loops.
