When ROJA came out  in 1993,its music caught everybody’s attention especially the  chhoti si asha .... song ,people were all the more surprised when they saw an unknown name on music

cassettes covers,that was  A R Rehman as music director of this movie ,a young person only in his twenties…His original name is Dilip Kumar and  he has converted to Islam later on as Allah Rakha Rehman,Incidentally , his wife’s name is Saira Banu,a very strange coincidence indeed…

 

Almost all of his songs are different and good,but I will write Ten Best songs I like very much-

 

1.Kehna hi kya yeh nain ek anjaan se mile…sung out of the world by Chitra..from movie BOMBAY.

 

2.Ae ajnabi tu bhi kabhi awaaz de kahin se…from movie DIL SE…sung by Udit Narayan.How could he give so good music,only God knows…

 

3.Jiya jale jaan jale…..from  movie DIL SE…sung by Lata Mangeshkar.Nobody could have sung it better,it looks this song was made for her only…

 

4.Woh kisna hai….from KISNA…very interesting,some of the part of the song is sung by Ismail Darbaar also.

 

5.Radha kaise na jale…from LAGAAN…sung by Asha Bhosle..a very good song to her credit.

 

6.O paalan hare ,nirgun aur nyare…from LAGAAN…sung by Lata Mangeshkar,This is my all time favorite…very peaceful song…excellent lyrics.

 

7.Kay sera sera ,ab jo ho so ho…from PUKAR.Its a very good song,good dance by Prabhu Deva,great choreography…its rumored 28 retakes were taken for this song.

 

8.Chhoti si asha….from ROJA…sung by Minmini,I must admit south Indian female singers are just out of the world,they have such sweet voices and sing songs with such clarity and finesse..Who can forget this song…

 

9.Saathiya ...madham madham teri gili hansi….from SAATHIYA..one of the very good songs of Sonu Nigam…I wonder who wrote those lyrics!

 

10.Kabhi neem neem...from YUVA…

 

I  also like one more song…Mehndi hai rachne wali,haathon mein gehri lali…from ZUBEIDA.
