Now that Diya aur Bati has come back to family drama, we can all breathe a sigh of relief! Enough of the episodes with Sandhya as the police officer(single kidney not withstanding) easily overpowering hefty hoodlums.
The terrorist groups she tackles consist of brainless and uneducated chaps who give long sermons before trying to kill her with the result she has ample time to kill them! In the attempt to make Sandhya look heroic, the director in fact makes the so called villains look foolish and pedestrian. And this is not just in the recent incident. It has been happening time and again ever since Sandhya's duties have been showcased. We stop watching the serial for a few weeks till the boredom is done with.The serial works better as a family drama with focus on the pivotal role of Santosh.
Yesterday's episode in which Suraj placates Sandhya telling her that had it not been for her, they would all be dead and gone is hardly the issue in contention. Whether the bomb drops in Pushkar or elsewhere, devastation remains the same. To show Sandhya, an inexperienced ACP from a small township CLEVERLY handling weak terrorists planning huge disasters is becoming too tedious to watch.
On top of that, every other woman who comes into Suraj's life HAS to be a negative character, why? From the previews it looks as though even Lalima is heading in that direction. Why not make the serial more entertaining by good vs good? Santosh's stand that serving the country would always be Sandhya's priority is very true. Why not give Sandhya a more acceptable role as an ACP - something the viewers can swallow, thereby keeping the family drama alive?
