This is really funny, for a long time I used to think what does Yesudas mean, I thought may be it is Yashdas or something like that, but later on I found it was Yesu(Jesus)Das, I did not know Jesus is also known as Yesu, I found out this in one of the Hindi pamphlets one day…Anyway.his songs really feel like coming from outer space, very unique voice…I have heard his Hindi Songs, but he must have sung much better songs in other south Indian languages…from where he hails.
1.My all time favorite is …ka karoon sajni aaye na balam…from SWAMI.This movie itself was very good starring Girish Karnad and Shabana Azmi.
2.Koi gaata main so jaata…from ALAAP, another great movie of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha.Amitabh played the role of a singer in this movie.
3.Madhuban khusbhu deta hai…from SAJAN BINA SUHAGAN starring Nutan and Rajendra Kumar.All his songs haunt you even after so many years.Padmini Kolhapure was a child artiste then and both Rajendra and Nutan are no more…
4.Gori tera gaon bada pyara, main to gaya mara, aake yahan…from CHITCHOR.This song fetched him National award in 1976.
5.*Khushiyan hi khushiyan daman me jiske, kyon na woh khushi se…from *DULHAN WAHI JO PIYA MAN BHAYE.
6.J*ab deep jale aana…from *CHITCHOR.
7.M*ana ho tum behad hasin, aise bure hum bhi nahin…from *TOOTE KHILONE.
8.*Surmayee ankhiyon mein koi nanha munna sapna de ja…from *SADMA.Excellent acting by Kamal Hasan and SriDevi, very tragic movie.
9.Dil ke tukde tukde kar ke muskura ke chal diye, jaate jate yeh to bata ja hum jiyenge kis ke liye…from DADA.Strangely all his songs vibrate with a different kind of romance…
10.*Jaaneman janeman tere do nayan…from *CHHOTI SI BAAT.

I wish he could have sung more songs in Hindi…
