Hi, Thanks a lot. This will be a “precious gift” for the coming generation in India especially people apart from South India. Sri. K.J.

Yesudas known as ‘Gana Gandharva”(voice of Gandharva), “Dasettan”(Elder brother for a new born child also) sung more than 35000 Film songs and thousands of Classical songs born in Kochi, Kerala and his mother-tong is Malayalam.

Even though his name is Yesudas(being a Christian his parents named him Yesudas meaning(son or servant of Lord Yesu or Christ). But apart from South India, people changed his name as Jesudas. See now, is there meaning for this word? He is the only playback singer in India who is singing both the Classical and Film / Light music songs.

Years will pass like ……1900, 2000, 2100 ….3000…. But songs, they are always “evergreen”. i.e the people who loves the music in the coming generations will always try to do a research for each and every “Precious songs” in our period of time. What is the importance of our period of time? We had/have beloved number of playback singers

Rafi sahib, Kishore sir, Lathajee, Ashajee, number of Classical(Karnatik, Hindustani, Gassals, etc) musicians and others those mother-tongs are other than Hindi. A word about Mother-tong, let me define it as “The taste which is created naturally when the child sucks the milk from his/her mother’s breast”. When we use any other language the taste of mother-tong will be there.

Dasettan gives an impeccable pronunciation of each and every word in a lyrics even in his Classical songs(when other great singers use their throat). This quality is differentiated him from other singers. For eg: when we listen his pronunciation of hindi letter “Bha”(pa, pha, ba, bha, ma) in a song it will have a weight of 20kgs.

According to me it is plus point of him compared to other singers. You know Latajee sung a Malayalam film song Kadhali chenkathiali. for the film Raagam. If you hear that song then you will feel how much she suffered to pronounce the words.

Now-a-days, the songs are becoming faster and faster, but the people in the coming generations who like Melodies & Semi-classical will search for songs between the periods 1900 and to the beginning of 2000. They will hear the songs sung by Rafi, Kishore, Lata, Ghoshal, etc …. they will identify a separate attractive voice of Dasettan and try to know more about him and then will focus on Malayalam film songs.

Have you heard about Load Ayyappas Sabarimala Temple in Kerala? Yesudas, the devotee’s recorded songs are playing there for waking up and letting Ayyappa to sleep before closing the temple. Try to hear his Lord Ayyappa's devosional song "Harivarasanam.".

He believes in GOD as a unique one and sung a lot of Hindu/Muslim/Christian devotional songs and number of Festival songs. When ever he speaks about anything first of all he will praise the GOD. If you believe, the Music is beyond the languages, please spend some time to listen the Malayalam songs in the following movies.

Ramakatha ganalayam(from the film “Bharatham”). Pramadavanam veendum(from the film “His Highness Abdulla”). Harimuralee ravam(from the film “Aaram Thampuran”)or visit his site yesudas.com. Any way you have done a very good job. At least you could make him an "INDIAN" not a "South Indian".
