Am I matured enough to pick up the best of Raaja?Certainly no!But it is not fair on my part to miss out this topic as I've already written for'Ten of Kamal and Rahman'.So commencing it.

Proud to write this review picking up a 'very few' songs of Raaja, the legend who is not recognized around, that he deserves.He is music's new definition.

I'm just gonna list out few songs of IR that always remain in my playlist and certainly may not satisfy all the readers.My apologies that the list remains partially filled and this is just the playlist in my PC that makes me live my life soulful.

1.Isaiyil Thodanguthamma(Hey Raam):

There was never a song that existed of this kind and no one in this world can create such a one.Philosophically written by the maestro, the song remains my pick for the life.Marvelous vocals by Ajay chakraborthy.The song has a passion that is so intense and rendered for your soul.

2.Putham Puthu poo(Dhalapathy):

The combination of IR and Maniratnam and the song just comes as aBGM in this movie.Fabulous.The haunting tempo of the song is further heaved by Yesudas.The strings are much more than perfection.A beauty of a composition.

3.Andhi Mazhai(Raaja Paarvai):

As the name of the film says, Raaja's powerful vision is rendered with a script of passion and melody in this song.The Hindustani aalap in the interlude is a peak performance.

4.Thendral vandhu(Thendralae Ennai thodu):

Just play this song in the CD player, lie back, close your eyes, hear it.you'll feel the pleasure of life brimming in your heart.I would bet my head even.Violins, strings and the whole orchestra is highly international and for a man of Raaja's calibre, its too obvious.

5.Ithu oru pon maalai(Nizhalgal):

The beauty of nature and the evening essence revealed with a zealous music.Music has never been better.Violins in the literally speak to you.If it had been digitally recorded, the song would stand to the peak(and even now it stands) and unfortunately, those where the days, we din't have the digital facilites invoked.

6.Sollayo Vaai(Mogha mul):

One of the best classical compositions(Raaga:Shanmugapriya).Raaja steals the show proving he is always the King.The lyrics by Vaali for this song is just breathtaking!Unfortunately the song wasn't known to many.

7.Thendral ennai Mutham ittathu(Oru Oodai Nathiyaghirathu):

Has anyone heard this song?When I asked this question, 95% were negative.Such a beautiful song that went unnoticed.The blend of classical and western classical.Wow!Marvellous!

8.Maharajanodu(Sathileelavathy):

This is one different number of illayaraja with a low pitched accent of Unnikrishnan.A lovable number with a stunning Stanza(Charanam).Great music!

9.Pani Vizhum(Ninaivellam Nithya):

Wow!SPB and IR, the greatest combo ever.A rocking track that has a well-blend percussion and strings.The flute interludes are mesmerizing! Its'Raaja isaiyin Siraivasam'(Jailed in Raaja's music).

10.Sundari Neeyum(Michael Madhana Kamarajan):

Many of them may not accept this number in Raaja's best, but certainly it grabbed my senses with a classical style and western percussion mixed with a set of bongos.Sung intensely by Kamal Hassan, that's a great number.

The list goes like *Paartha Vizhi(guna), Idhazil Kathai(Unnal Mudiyum Thambi), Paruvamae(Nejathay Killathey), Nirpathuvae(Baharathi), and Thousands of'em.

The list is not in any order of best songs of Raaja, But just one of my favourite playlists.

Are you crazy?how can you sort IR's Top ten?I tried, but flunked trying it out.May be the topic should have been'The Best Thousand of Illayaraaja'
