Songs have a power. They energize you when you are tired, lift you up when you are down, help you and console you when life is terrible, and almost always(the good ones ie) and almost always. touch you deep somewhere.
A R rehman.
I like his songs for their creator, as always, I love the creators and the way they are reflected in their works!(more brilliantly). He has not song all the songs but has been creator of them. first the music comes then the song follows.
His 10 best songs. ahaaa another difficult choice. no probs lets begin.
1)
AE nazneen suno naan.
Its a song I have in my mobile, I love it more for its music( mostly u will like him more for his music) then its words. but still you listen to it and listen to it and. wow. and if you have a girl friend like sonali bendre( as the hero did in this film!). you will keep on rewinding and listening to it.
dekha tumhe to hosh ud gayeee, hoth jaise khud hii sill gaye.
2)
Chotti si asha. ROJA
Roja. a wonderful movie for its story and for most of the songs, thats what the usual success story of a film is. but still I love this one for the words. The beginning is so tinkling and magical. I also loved the songs
yeh hansiii wadiyaa and
rojaa jaaneman(sad one). from the film. but chotti si ashaa is sweet, hummable and magical. You can listen to it at any time.
swarg si dhartii
khill rahi jaiseee
mera mann bhii toh
khil rahaa aise
koyal ki tarhaa
raani ka harmaa
machlii ki tarhaa
machlu yeh armaan
jawaani hai laai
rangin sapnaaa. dil hai chota saa.wowwwww
3)
khoya khoya rehtaa hai. taram pam . Doli sajaa ke rakhnaa.
Another superb piece of music, chorus( a speciality of a r rehman) and words. There is an instrumental version of it, and that too is so healing. lovely.
.
jaise,
anguthi mein ho,
nagina koi woh,
dekhaa hai tumne,
kahoo kyaa usko?.
nahin woh to kuch aur hi hai, kahe kyaa yarron tumse hum.
karishma hai woh
khuda hi kaa toh jo
dekha hai tumne
kahu kyaa uskoo
woh subah kaa taraa hai
haan kismat se hamaara hai.
4)
khamosh raat. Thakshak
I loved all the songs of this movie, especially this one, and jaan meri, rang de, boondon se baatein and jumbalika too. I find this one particularly typical of a r rehman. the high and the low notes
listen to this song with your eyes closed( all songs and any music should be best heard with eyes closed as such). but listen to this song, and you will love listening to it.
shor mein iss duniye ke bhi,
khamoshi thii aur ek the hum
rahein sabhi thii suni suni,
uthh rahe thee kadam tham tham.
aur duuur kahiiin roshan huaa ek chehraa.
yeh sach hai, yaa sapnaa
5)
dil se re
hmmm. most of my friends hate this song because of its picturisation. Well, try listening to it with the closed eyes again, and you will know why I put it up here. Same highs and lows, but listen to the antraas, wowwwwie.
do patte patzad mein, paido se uttre the,
paido kii shakho se utreee the.
woh patte do bechare fir udne ki chahat mein
unn sehrao se guzre.
woh patte dil dil dil the.
you can listen to him singing his heart out. woww
6)
nahin saamne . taal
dekho(dil ko) chhooddke jis rastee woh jaate hain,
saare raste wapas .
a song with a note of pain in it and yet lots of hopes and self consolation in it.wonderful movie again for all its song, but I loved this one very much. Credit goes to the singer also for carrying the kaise. for so long. lovely song.
7)
maa tujhe salam. vande mataram.
what an electricfying song.aha, probably the best song ar rehman has song with such intensity, you can feel it as you listen to it.lots of highs and lows again in the notes, the pitch varying, I liked the visaul - picturisation too.
8)
humma- ek ho gaye hum aur tum. bombay.
another movie with almost all nice songs, but this songs uplifts my moods so many times. the magical quality of the uncomprehensible words is so lovely. probably another of my topmost of all songs. very electrifying and energy giving one. the beginning of the music is too good. I think, remo did a very good job in singing this one. lovely song.
9)
mustafa, mustafa.
I dont like it as much as the others now., but still it has the typical ar rehman effect and the college guys thing that makes me like it. excuse my likes!
10)
ae ajnabi. dil se
to that unknown who is connected to you but is still unknown. a wonderful song, more for its lyrics then the magic(music). but still music is always soul deep!
These are the 10 random songs I remember right now associated with mr. rehman. I also loved urvashi urvashi, yuhi chala(added after a fellow cherub added and reminded me of it in comments) and banno rani from 1947.
