Personally I have beeb a big fan of the choreographer Saroj Khan. Although as a kid I was completely besotted by the dance numbers performed by Sridevi and Madhuri on screen; it was only a little later that I realized that the magic was created by the behind the scenes goddess Saroj Khan.

Saroj Khan has been working during the time of Bobby. A film that she was an assistant choreographer for. But she came in the limelight only years later.

Here's a list of ten of her songs that I have enjoyed. Not just for the dance but also for the music.

# Tu hai meri raagini - Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja

A typical heroine trying to woo the hero number this one is memorable enough; even though people would have forgotten the disastrous film. Sridevi with her glamourous look in the film - including her lenses and the red sari in this song looks ravishing.

# Radha kaise na jale - Lagaan

This film made waves and still is. And from the story to the cast to the performances to the location - everything in this film worked. Not to mention the music and of course the choreography. For each song a different choreographer was chosen. And Saroj Khan's radha kaise na jale is undoubtedly the best.

# Yeh kiski hai aahat - Devdas

While the majority vote would go to dola re dola; I personally prefer yeh kiski hai aahat. It is more simpler to give moving dance steps to actresses but to choreograph a song when an actress is sitting and performing – sure is tough. And hence this song is credible.

# Ek do teen - Tezaab

The song that gave Madhuri the star status she so deserved. More than the film it was this song that placed Madhuri in the hearts of the people. And behind it all was the hard work not just on the part of the actress but also the choreographer. They rehearsed for the song for almost a month before the shoot and shot continuously for 36 hours since the set had to be dismantled. Hard work sure pays.

# Dhak dhak - Beta

Another song that created havoc with the lyrics and the movements. But the pairing of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri who looked made-for-each-other on screen did full justice to the song on screen and didn't make it look like a frivolous number.

# Na jaane kahan se - Chaalbaaz

Sridevi dancing in the rain and looking cute is all one can remember of this song. And not to forget the fact that with all the getting wet in the artificial rain she was running a temperature of 102 while shooting for this song.

# Choli ke peeche - Khalnayak

The song that made quite a few women's organization fight with fury. But the agitation was all against the lyrics of the song. The picturisation however was subtler and Neena Gupta alongwith Madhuri Dixit set the screen on fire.

# Nimbooda - Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

Yet another actress that made her mark with Saroj Khan's choreography was Aishwarya Rai. And nimbooda was the song. With some really tough steps and an elaborate set this song made way right at the top of the charts.

#  Meri bindiya teri nindiya – Lamhe

Sridevi adorning herself to appease Anil Kapoor is what this song is all about. The song is not just beautifully written but it also says a story and is beautifully picturised. One of the best songs of Sridevi ever.

# Happy birthday – Prem Deewane

This song is neither that great nor that memorable. But it is perfectly situational. And the best thing about it is that you can actually see the choreographer shake a leg in it. And to keep her company is none other than the director of the film Sachin.
