What better occasion but the independence day then penning up a few words under this beautiful topic. The other day, my son told me that to pen 10 sentences on Independence day as he would like to read it out in his class. This gave me a feeler to write a review.

15th August, the magical date and 1947 the magical year, India gained its legal freedom from the British Rule. The arduous struggle of freedom and the sacrifices of our freedom fighters are remembered on this day.

With the patriotic songs, the pain and the struggle that they have encountered towards their journey of freedom can be felt deeply. Every Indian has a reason to be proud of his motherland and the great leaders who have led their lives and laid their lives for India. The list is endless. I consider this ocassion the most appropriate to pay a tribute to these great souls who have attributed this greatest gift of freedom to us. So here's saluting them.

*Kar Chale Hum Fida Jaano Tan Sathiyo.

Ab Tumhare Hawaale Vatan Sathiyo.*

From the Film'Haqeeqat', penned by the great Kaifi Azmi, composed by Madan Mohan and sung by none other than Mohammed Rafi.

This song depicts the pain that lies behind the smiles of our brave men. The message to the fellow countrymen to take care of the motherland when they are gone is conveyed so easily and effectively that seldom any person hearing this beautiful creation can remain unaffected. A fabulous piece of work.

*Jaha Jaha Dal Dal Par Sone Ki Chidiya Karti Ho Basera

Woh Bharat Desh hain Mera *

From the film'Sikander-E-Azam', written by Rajinder Krishan, Music by Hansraj Bahal, and beautifully sung by Mohammed Rafi.

Aptly describes the Rich India. A beautifully worded song which gives ample satisfaction to an Indian to be proud of its rich heritage, tradition and prosperity. Soothes your inner soul and reduces the feeling of the pain of our brave soldiers. Truly a Masterpiece.

Bharat ka rahenewala hoon, Bharat ki Baat Sunata Hoon*

This song tells you the importance of love and relationships in India. It conveys the message of love and brotherhood. An Indian away from his motherland would better relate to this song. The feeling of being surrounded by your loved ones and the joy of being with them has been well said in this soft yet beautiful song.

A Happy farmer sings gleefully on seeing the rich crops that his land has reaped. He compares his fruit of labour to invaluable pearls and diamonds. Such is the simplicity of an Indian. Very true to heart and satisfied with whatever he has gained. The simplicity and innocence has been very well emoted in this song.

Ek Sathi Aur Bhi Tha.

Saathi Mubarak Tumhe, Yeh Jashn aur yeh Jahan…Bas Itna Yaad Rahe.

From the film LOC, sung by Sonu Nigam,

It makes you aware of the dark remains of a war which results in innumerable sacrifices of our soldiers. This song serves you with the message of a dying soldier who wants his companion to remember him while he enjoys the celebrations amongst his loved ones. The pain and above all the happiness of having gone for a reason makes this soulful song more emotional. Great piece of music and beautifully rendered by Sonu Nigam. Touches your heart deep within.

Baar Baar Haan.Bolo Yaar Haan. Apni Jeet Ho.Unki Haar Haan.

From the Film “Lagaan”, sung by Udit Narayan and others.

This song targets the ones who have lost hope. A doze of this song can be inspiring. It says that one to win under any circumstances. It instigates the positive attitude and the killer instinct to work towards the goals. It keeps one going through the long journeys of  struggle. Keep going is the Mantra here and it works anywhere. under the sun.

Many more soulful patriotic songs have been sung and many would be made in future. These songs are the ones which makes us aware of the work that our great freedom fighters have done for us to live a free life. The sense of being free and the right to lead a free life is a gift of these great leaders whom we occasionally see on the pages of our history books.

The greatest tribute that we can pay them is to preserve this gift of independence by working in the right direction for years and centuries to come…
