Independence day and patriotic songs
Aug 15, 2009 09:18 AM 18934 Views

I don't know why, as Independence day comes near, I get inclined to listen patriotic songs. Its not that, I don't hear them other time, but during this period it gives different feeling. May be because, there is different time and mood for different types of songs. Right from my younger days, I am listening this songs and it leaves in a different state of mind.

I am aware that some review already exist on this topic, then I thought to share my point of view on these songs.

Here is my choice: Each songs can not be explained here, a separate review needs to be written for each of them. But I am trying to give little bit of information for each songs.

  1. Door hato aye duniya walon Hindustan hamara hai. Film: Kismat(1943), Lyrics: Kavi Pradip, Music: Anil Vishwas.

In the patriotic song, Door hato O Duniya walon("Go away outsiders, India is ours"), penned by'Kavi Pradeep', a negative reference to Japan was used, Tum na kisike aage jhunkna, German ho ya Japaani, this allowed it to get pass through heavy British censorship of the time, though the people understood the hidden meaning and the song; backed by the uplifting score by Anil Biswas, it became an instant hit, amidst the atmosphere of rising nationalistic fervour, though the British authorities, soon realised their mistake, and wanted to ban the film, and an arrest warrant was issued for the film's lyricist, Pradeep, who had to immediately go underground, to avoid arrest.

  1. Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujawan shaheed ho. Film Shaheed(1948). Lyrics: Qamar Jalalabadi, Music: Ghulam Haider.

Its was a call for all youth of those days to come forward and lay down their lives for the nation.

  1. Takat watan ki humse hai. Film: Prem Pujari(1970). Lyrics: Neeraj, Music: S. D Burman.

Wow, this is another rare but great song, picturised on army man. Aap is gaane ko sun kar fakr se bhar jayenge, its my challenge.

  1. Vande mataram. Film:(Anandmath). National Song. Lyrics: Bankim Chandra Chattopadhya, Music: Hemant Kumar

I don't need to say anything about this lovely song. It has been sung in many different version, but this one is the original(one of the oldest version). Although its in sanskrit. but wohi josh aa jata hai.

  1. Kadam kadam badhaye ja. Film: Samadhi(1950)

You will find that, this was picturised on a troop(Azad Hind Army) moving towards Delhi. A typical marching song.

  1. Hum us desh ke basi hain jis desh mein ganga behti hai. Film: Jis desh mein Ganga behti hai(1960). Lyrics: Shailendra, Music: Shankar Jaikishan.

This song starts with music of Dafli, Dholak and strings, a typical rural Indian beats and suddenly after a pause, song starts with hair raising and beautiful https://lyrics. Watch it.

  1. Saare jahan se achchha Hindustan hamara. Film: Bhai Behen(1950). Lyrics: Although the original is written by Iqbal, but in this song some changes was made. Music: Not available.

Its another beautiful song in a praise of our country.

  1. Pagdi sambhal jatta. Film: Shaheed(1965). Lyrics: Prem Dhawan / Ram Prasad, Music: Prem Dhawan

Don't bow your head in front of your enemy, real motivational song. If you see video, it will raise temp of your blood. Beautifully sung by Rafi.

  1. Apni aazadi ko hum hargiz bhula sakte nahi. Film: Leader(1964). Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni, Music: Naushad.

This songs is fit for all ages and era and will be used forever. Rafi saab has sung it beautifully, but each word is used with some force.

  1. Jana gana mana adhinayak jai hey. National Anthen. Lyrics: Rabindra Nath Tagore, Music: A R Rehman

This is the latest version of this national anthem, beautifully sung by group of best singers of the country, wow what a effect it leaves.

There are many more songs, but those are already covered in different reviews. I tried to bring those songs in notice, which is known to some but not to everyone(except few nos. which is very famous)

*Shaheedon ki arthi uthegi dhoom se, desh walon tum aansoo bahana nahi,

Par jab manao aazad Bharat ka din, us ghadi tum humein bhool jana nahi.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
