Gulzar - wizard of words

Gulzar Film Festival is being celeberated on MS. On this great occassion I dedicate this review on living legend Gulzar to my dear friend Tanna ( Astrofreak1234 ) who inspired me to write on Gulzar Saheb.

The quality of lyrics in the hindi movies has undergone a vast change over the years. In the early period, film songs were couched in a language that tended to be rather literary, even ornate. Lyricists who were then attracted to the film industry were talented versifiers who had earlier earned some repute by reciting their creations in mushairas and kavi sammelans.

The language of present day film songs has come down to the level of banality. But fortunately we still have some highly talented lyricists like Javed Akhtar and Gulzar saheb around us.

Here is a lyricist who has redefined the manner in which the songs are written in Hindi films and his lyrics have the charm to sweep off young and old alike.

Gulzar saheb's songs simply display the purity of his thoughts and expressions. He is a versatile lyricist. His songs ranged from romantic love songs ,sad songs & all areas of life.Gulzar brougt a freshness to lyrics that was to become his hallmark in terms of simple, soul stirring langauge & revolutionary use of common man's idoms. He invented a new genre in lyric writting.

If there is a lyricist who has brought a respect to the profession of lyricist in the recent times, it is none other than Gulzar Saheb. His lyrics that always celebrates life and sees light at the end of every dark tunnel and this must have been the reason why he continues to rule the bollywood for more than four decades.

Although he made some changes in his poetry to suit to film songs, he never dropped down to vulgarity with his https://lyrics. He has the capability to give a hit number without using improper words

Gulzar the uncrowned king of the world of words is a multi talented person. He is a film maker, producer and script writer .He is known for making brilliantly sensitive portrayal of subjects ranging from human relations, biographical profiles and often controversial social issues.Very few of us know that Gulzar has developed a new style of writing poems called Triveniwhich comprises stanzas comprising three lines rhyming with each other.

It is very rare that when Gulzar pens a song he does not get recognized in the form of a multitude of awards. It indeed is a treat to experience his thoughts whenever he pens them either in the form of a verse or a story.

Very few are the lucky lyricists who have been recgonised during their life time,Gulzaris one among them. The Winner of five National Awards and seventeen Filmfare trophies besides the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Padma Bhushan. Recently Gulzar became the first Indian lyricist to win the Oscar award for his song Jai ho ,from Slumdog Millionaire .

Here is my list of Ten best songs penned by the Living Legend Gulzar. Its very difficult to select just Ten songs, because most of his songs are my favourite. Its like picking the best ten flowers in the beautiful garden. I do not want to explain the situation,or defining the meaning of the songs,I request you to listen the songs & feel the feelings. Hope these songs makes you to hear again and again.
