My Favourite songs of 2001!. Review on Ten Best Hindi Songs of 2001

2001 may not have been a particularly great year for music but it wasn't that bad either.It was musical scores like LAGAAN, DIL CHAHTA HAI, PYAR TUNE KYA KIYA, ASOKA and FILHAAL that gave music lovers like me something to cherish and being absolutely obsessed with music I was content with whatever good came out.So my ten best songs of the year 2001 would be:

1.KAMBAKTH ISHQ(Pyar tune kya kiya):Oh man!What a SONG.This song with the hot Urmilla and even hotter Fardeen khan became the anthem of the nation and it had to, what with those brilliant lyrics and singing(Asha bhosle-Sonu nigam-Sukhwinder singh-combustible combo).Way to go Mr Chowta, that was the SONG OF THE YEAR for me.

2.O'RE CHORI(Lagaan):Lagaan was undoubtedly one of the best albums of the year and with it Rehman once again proved that he is God of music.Lagaan had some grt tracks but for me the pick of the lot is O're chori coz of its novelty and experimentation.This song was a wonderful blend of Western and Indian music, very differant from what usually comes out and thats what made me love the song.

3.RABBA RABBA(Aks):Well, i really freaked out on this song from Aks.It was more of a fusion song(Folk and Arabic), new age music, very funky and energetic and was superbly sung by VASUNDHRA DAS and SUKHWINDER SINGH.

4.KOI KAHE(Dil chahta hai):This song from D.C.H was a blast and the right song to put u in a mood of dancing and thats what it does to me.A very peppy, catchy and groovy number with some really energetic singing.And ya, i also felt that Koi kahe was one of the best picturised song of the year and everytime I watch it I wish I was in it.

5.RABBA MERE RABBA(Mujhe kuch kehna hai):I loved this song from M.K.K.H, a real foot-tapping number and this song was made special coz of some extraordinary singing by SONU NIGAM.

6.ROSHNI SE(Asoka):I'ld say this is one of Anu Malik's best compositions and definately one of the best song of the year.The poetic brilliance of Gulzar combined with some awesome singing made this song a gem.A love song that was refreshingly differant.

7.YAADIEN.title song(Yaadien):Well, Yaadein may be the worst film of the decade but this song from the film did strike a chord somewhere.The song was very mellow, soft and soulful with amazing lyrics and brilliant singing from Hariharan.Yaadein was a kind of song which haunts you.

8.ZARA ZARA(Rehna hai tera dil mein):I loved this song soooooooo much moreso coz of the way it has been seductively sung by BOMBAY JAYSHREE and the lyrics are also so romantic.Zara Zara has a kind of sensuality woven around it and the song transforms me to a differant world altogether, thats the kind of effect it has on me.

9.NAYA NAYA(Filhaal):Filhaal was yet another great album but my favourite song from the album is not the title song but Naya Naya Dhula Dhula, i don't think I have heard such a fresh sounding song in years.The song flows like a poetry(Gulzar.what do I say for him)and K.K and Chitra's sensuous voice made this song extra-dulcet.My pick of the lot.

10.DIL CHAHTA HAI.title song(Dil chahta hai):This was yet another rockin song.It was so fresh, youthful, very lively and differant and I liked the REPRISE version even better.SHANKAR-LOY-EHSAAN did a commendable job in Dil chahta hai, making every song so memorable.DIL CHAHTA HAI is the ALBUM of the year for me.

So this completes my list of ten best songs of the year 2001 and some of them have become my all time favourite songs too and I keep listening to them more often.I hope the year 2002 has some really cool songs and music in store for us.till then lets enjoy what we have.
